Pretty, rocky, missed the second lake by a mile, 6 month old grandson tapped out. Wonderful hike with plenty of flowers on the 5th of July. Picnicked along side Eleanor, cool and beautiful.

Awesome trail, amazing wildflower, no people! Took us six hours to the top.

The trail is rated as moderate which is appropriate except that, from Eleanor to Shimmy, the majority of the trail is so obscure that the only way to follow it is the cairn's that have been set up by previous travellers. Its overgrown in some parts of the trail and the majority of the trail is rocky as expected for the elevation. Ascending the trail from Eleanor is all uphill with some brief respite. The views are pretty nice, but not sure the hike to Shimmy is worth it. Only saw squirrels. Make sure it hasn't rained recently or the trek up will be a wet one.

Nice hike, a little snow around the lake. Beautiful sunny day in April.

Easy short trail - about 4 miles from the Lake Eleanor TH. A little brushed in at some spots and had to keep an eye out for rock stacks for some direction. Saw a few other hikers, but no one else at Shimmy Lake on a Saturday afternoon. Absolutely beautiful spot to spend a day!

Great day hike but my gps read 3.8 miles once we got all the way up to lake shimmy. For 2 people who aren’t in the best of shape it was a bit challenging and definitely was tricky to follow the trail. There’s a few rock stacks and arrows guiding you along so keep your eye out! Also saw an Owl fly right over us pretty close.

The trail is a little hard to follow but well worth the effort. The distance listed here is wrong. Other sites put the distance at around 3.6 miles from the trailhead which is more accurate. The ground is also rocky and the terrain uneven. I had heard to keep an eye out for pitcher plants but they weren't hard to find, with multiple marshy fields full of them along the way. There were lots of flowers blooming and not too much snow in late June.

Great hike to a beautiful lake. Took wife and 4yr old here for Mothers day adventure. We hiked many trails. This one was a good hike. Pay off at the end for sure! there was still spots of snow on Mothers day

I just went on September 30th 2017 and the weather was great. The lakes were beautiful but not much of a hike if that is what you were looking for. There is a road where you can drop in from the top and only have to walk about a half a mile to the lake.

Nice, easy hike & you'll probably see pitcher plants near the streams.
