A trail that takes you through canyon and up to Moro ridge, with sweeping coastal views. The trail begins and ends at the El Moro Visitor Center. This loop gives you a tour of the El Moro Canyon, then climbs over 800' in elevation to the ridge line, where you'll enjoy some of the best coastline views in the park. Parking Fee: $15

Great trail, amazing views and good workout. Pretty steep going up or down in a couple spots but still great. Parking is super limited so plan ahead or be patient looking for parking as their free lot is small, or you can park at another lot location for a fee. Oh and no dogs allowed .

great hiking experience. the 5mile might be too harsh for a kid. we brought our 4 year old and he had troubles on the way. nonetheless, it was one beautiful hike today for the family.

Confirming that the trails were open today, however there are still some large cracks in the trail from previous rain storms (check photos). Still was able to hike a good section of it, but may be harder to navigate by mountain bike. The El Moro Visitor’s Center is a great resource for current trail conditions - I recommend giving them a call to stay updated with closures!

Confirming that the trail is still closed today due to previous rains. Boat Road Trail is right down the road, though, and is nice!

Awesome trail, great views of the ocean and also some nice inland hiking. Steep’ish in areas so likely moderate. We did a longer loop which was an awesome workout. I give it 4 stars because you can’t bring dogs on a leash in any Crystal Cove park trail which is a bummer!

Go clockwise I think it is easier. No shade at all and no bathroom. Is able to finish within ah hour.

Underwhelming hike, unimpressive views and unfriendly rangers. Additionally, hikers are forced to pay a full day rate on weekends which is a complete ripoff. Not coming back to this hike again!

Trail was full of flies thru out the entire hike. Be weary, bring bug spray.

Easy for the most part except for the one mile you have to climb uphill. I personally recommend beginners taking the clockwise route rather than the counterclockwise because there are more shades as you hike up to the top and you can look as the ocean as you descend back down. The counterclockwise route is definitely much steeper.

Not too difficult of a hike, but there are a good portion of inclination that’ll work out your quads. It’s nice to finish off the hike by going through the tunnel of shallow water to get to the beach! The beach is beautiful and the sand and water was so soothing for our feet! I definitely suggest going clockwise for the loop and go relax at the beach for a bit before heading back to your car. Parking is $15 and it’s right at the trailhead!

Good trail, kid friendly but not stroller friendly.

Nice views at the end but otherwise a pretty disappointing hike. It’s not a trail but a fire road the whole way other than BFI. Go clockwise for sure.
