Nice, basic hike! I went in the morning and it was very cold and misty. We saw one biker, but the trail was completely empty besides them. It was pretty muddy and slippery in sections, but overall, well maintained and offered a nice forest walk.

We could see our breathe the whole time, even as it got past noontime. So layer up as the redwoods definitely provide a cool shady space to hike. People were all great about masks.

We went clockwise down a nice broad gently sloping trail and had lunch on a pile of large logs. The hike back up was steep, rocky and narrow. Good to get the heart beating. The lower trails were sparsely populated, so we had them to ourselves most of the time. The upper trails including the tafoni trail were busier.

Beautiful loop through redwoods. Completely shaded. One viewpoint on Fir trail. A few hikers and mountain bikers, but not too many. Good parking at Skeggs Point.

Mountain biking

Lovely trail but lots of hikers. Definitely mixed use with more hikers than bikers at least on this particular loop. Moderate with some slightly steeper climbing sections on the way out.

A fantastic trail for shade and fun up and down walking. Great signage, so no issues with questioning if we’re on the right track or not. A perfect and rewarding 5 miles in just under 2 hours. Not great for views but great to do for little exposure on a hot day.

Lots of butterflies! Lots of bikes. We tried to find the debris of the 1953 plane crash on the Resolution Trail but somehow missed it.
