The trails oscillate up and down a lot. At the base of the Vista Point detour, there is a placard with information about the flight that crashed there in 1953. A beautiful tree-covered hike, a perfect destination for a hot day. Lots of mountain bikers, but the trails are wide enough to give them some space to pass.

Perfect “moderate” trail - just the right amount of mileage and uphills to get a good sweat but not overdoing it. Note that there aren’t too many parking spots so I recommend coming during the week or early on weekend mornings to snag a spot!

HikingGreat!

I hiked this trail on Monday at 4:30pm, it was 72 degrees, it took me about 3 and a half hours. I gave the trail a 5/5 because it was well of the road and all you could hear was nature for the most part. It was all forest with some mature redwoods. There was a viewing point with a picnic table about 4 miles into the hike. I only seen 5 other people on the trail, 2 runnings and 3 mountain bikers. It was so peaceful! I just moved to the area and this might end up being my go to weekday hike!

Beautiful trail. Full parking lot, cars parked along the road, but minimal crowd at worst on the trail. It was often very quiet and peaceful

It is a very nice trail. I love that it is pretty much shaded all the way. The trail is narrow so not ideal for social distancing. But, since it is not crowded so not a big problem. As other reviewers mentioned, there are a lot of bikers.

Such a beautiful trail with good tree cover for hot days. Inclines are gradual. I followed the map precisely and it ended up being 7.5 miles

Perfect amount of rolling hills and elevation. Seemed much emptier than the other parking lots we passed on the way.

My favorite hike off Skyline so far. Great variation of scenery and hilly vs. flat terrain.

Had a great time doing this loop clockwise on July 4th weekend! Lots of shade, especially in the second half of the hike. The first third is very open with some beautiful views. There’s a vista point after the first two miles or so. After the first third the trail gets narrower, rockier, and more heavily wooded. These areas also had some muddy bits and more bugs (mosquitoes and flies). The last third has lots of elevation gain.

Well shaded trail and beautiful redwoods. At one point we made a wrong turn and ended up doing an additional 2 miles so just pay attention to the signs if you don’t predownload the map.

Shaded hike through the woods, trail shared by hikers and mountain bikers. Hiked clockwise and took me 2 hours. Limited parking at trailhead so recommend going early.
