LONG-TERM CLOSURE: Echo Park Lake is temporarily closed due to maintenance but is scheduled to reopen on June 30, 2021. A lovely paved path around a lake with beautiful lotuses. Nice and gentle and good for the whole family. Accessibility: The trail surface is paved and typically at least six feet wide. The estimated grade is gentle (all 3% or less) so most wheelchair/mobility equipment or stroller users will likely find this trail navigable. There are benches along the route for resting.

RunningGreat!

This is one of my go-to running destinations. Beautiful views of the city skyline, surrounding houses/apt and of course the lake itself. Last few times I have been there has been an increase of people experiencing homelessness, however, I've personally never been harrassed or made to feel unsafe. If you're going to go running here, I recommend getting here earlier in the morning as it gets pretty full closer to mid-morning and on to the evening. I'm usually there anywhere between 6am and 8am and it's pretty clear for a solid run.

Doesn’t feel safe taking my family there anymore. Homeless everywhere. People trying to sell alcohol. Drug addicts.

Walking

It’s an easy walk - you can also hire a swan if you want to hit the water. Just a note - at the moment the lake area is tent city for a lot of displaced individuals who have it hard over the pandemic. So have some understanding and compassion right now and maybe leave it for another time.

Usto come here a lot as a kid & it was a lot different to what it looks like now. While the lake & views of Downtown LA remain beautiful, there are homeless camping everywhere. Doesn't feel safe coming here anymore.

The lake maintains its beauty, but the scenery is spoiled by the homeless. They have turned these beautiful grounds into their encampment; complete with all their trash.

Half the park is homeless people/tents/trash and full of vendors especially on the weekends.

Great loop! I run it once a week! However, due to Covid-19 there are a lot more homeless people living around the park. But they don’t bother anyone.

Very busy, and lots of tents around. Saw some cool turtles in the lake, though!

Walking

Since 2001 I have walked this lake. It’s a nature led love letter to the original community Easy breezy to walk. Northwest corner is home to many tents and self made homes. There are plenty of street vendors with drinks, fresh fruit, bacon wrapped hot dogs and elote! Bring a blanket.

Love this little loop. It’s right down the street from me, a very convenient morning or midday break from the [home] office these days. Paved the entire way and a very gentle walk, and dog and kid friendly—my little nieces love this spot. There are benches and tables scattered throughout to sit and enjoy the lake, or have an afternoon picnic. A great place to soak in some greenery, with a stunning view of the DTLA cityscape skyline.

A short walk around the lake in Echo Park. I was surprised to see almost 20 people fishing in it!! The highlight of this spot is definitely the swan paddle boats and the fountain in the middle of the lake. It is a very popular spot so it is very crowded. There are also a lot of homeless encampments.

Walking

In June 2013 (after two years of renovation), Echo Park reopened! And as you stroll around the lake, you may notice the original water lilies have returned, too! To help with the whole experience, boats rides are available accompanied by great views of the city! And you can venture off into the neighborhood to the east and you can find Carroll Ave... and it's beautiful Victorian homes.

It's a nice place to go for a walk , not much of a hike, during summer is really nice as they have activities for kids and Yoga.. they have a lake in the middle where you can ride some small paddle boats ( they are shaped as a goose). They have a small Cafe and can buy some snack and even some lunch. The only thing I don't like is there is a lot of goose poop a lot, you just have a watch where you walk.. Other then that I recommend to come and visit

Not so much a hike as a walk in the park. Beautiful in July, with all the lotuses blooming on the lake. Very popular and friendly, and interesting history in the area.
