Pretty moderate hike. Just the one steep incline on live oak. Definitely crowded along the paved section , so was glad to get off into quieter areas. My friend and I both clocked this hike at 11.2 and not 10.6 BTW.

My favorite trail! Done this trail 8 times now and about to go for 9 this Saturday. It's very beautiful.

Perfect trail. Good challenge but appropriately doable. 96 degrees. Bring water. Must cross the straight and complete to complete the trail behind restroom I believe it was Brandon trail. Dope trail.

I had a great time on 05/22/2020. It took me a few hours to complete because I’m in mediocre shape, but still I was able to finish and brag about it after. Some of the bathrooms along the way were closed, but otherwise make sure to pack snacks and have hydration. There were some really nice views. I would recommend it to anyone interested in a great view and moderately increased cardiac response.

Running

Well maintained trail through very scenic area. This is a strenuous run because it is continuously hilly with smaller slopes in between the big ones, thus very little flat trail to recover on. Some descents are steep and rocky. Saw two snakes on the path.

Very nice trail. Partially sunny, partially shady, both flat and hilly areas. My feet started hurting around mile 7 and were killing me by the end, but after I rest up, I plan on doing it again. Also, I saw a wild coyote on the hike, that was awesome!

First to Review

This is the Lake Chabot Bike Loop. The dam project is now officially finished (as of October 2017) and the entire loop is open again. I recommend doing the loop counter clockwise. The first 2 miles along the east shore are paved and there are a lot of pedestrians, so it’s a good warmup on the bike. Then there’s the steep ascent up Live Oak Trail that is the most difficult part. Once you reach Brandon, it’s a wide trail with a series of descents that is a blast on a bike. Eventually you’ll get off Brandon and make another less-steep ascent up Skyline trail and arrive at the Grass Valley parking lot. Then it’s downhill again on Goldenrod until you reach the dam. From the dam back to the marina is all paved with lots of pedestrians again.
