My hike shows one way but we started at the bottom. Steep steady climb but completely worth it for the views. Great access to Piedra Blanca. But trail is overgrown at times and there are ticks, quite possibly poison oak but hard to tell in winter. Really fun tho

For about 2 miles hiking up, there were nonstop overgrown bushes and plants. I was hoping to get an uphill workout but the bushy trail slowed me down. :( specially with poison oak :( I couldn’t enjoy the views either

this was a challenging but rewarding hike that would have been made easier with more water (4-5 liters). plan on bringing more than you'd expect to need and if possible, a hat and trekking poles (especially in the summer -- it's VERY exposed). the views are spectacular and there were still remnants of wild flowers throughout the trail. i imagine it's incredible in the spring.

All the reviews give you pretty much all the details you need to know. During the stretch to the peak, you might lose the trail because of how overgrown it is, and you are going to find yourself in the bushes surrounded by bees and mosquitos. I rarely get stung and mosquitos never really bothered me, but come prepared if you do. Lots of lose rocks. It gets REALLY slippery and some proper footwear would definitely help but I've managed to do it with running shoes. I had a really hard time finding the trail past Post Summit to Mt. Manuel so I turned around and went back the same way. Thank you Jennifer for the ride back!

This is a mystical and magical hike. We saw bobcat, horned lizards, tons of butterflies, grasshoppers, condors, hawks and more! You get to see Pico Blanco (the pyramid shaped white mountain) most of the hike which is gorgeous. Loads of wildflowers. When you reach the summit, the fog clears (at least it did for us) and on the descent you get to see the wide open vistas of the Big Sur coast and Pacific Ocean! Only downside is the trail is overgrown so we did see lots of poison oak and 2 ticks. And the very last scramble for the summit is sandy and rocky and steep and slippery. I can't wait to go back again tho.

The first 1.5 miles are very overgrown. Picked up lots of ticks. Once you’re on the ridge the rest of the hike is great. Mild elevation changes until the push to the peak.

Moderate markings, trail overgrown in places. Lots of ticks; recommend long pants and shirt and a tick key. View is phenomenal from the top of Post Summit.
