The views from the trail are very nice. The trail is steep. I enjoyed that aspect of the trail. The trail is overgrown with bushes, so unless you were looking out at the ocean, the trail was kind of ugly. There was also plenty of poison oak, which this advised near the parking area. What we did not think about were ticks. We saw quite a few & quickly decided to stop hiking that trail. If you go wear pants.

This is a strenuous hike. I did not go all the way up because I was hiking alone and the only person on the trail. Only a few trails were open and everybody took the trails that go to the beach. Above it says the trail is heavily traveled but it is not. Much if the trail is overgrown and the man at the parking lot said not many people take this trail. Definitely wear long pants. I was wearing shorts and got a tick.

This trail is pretty much straight up. Suggest wearing pants as there is brush a majority of the way. Trail head starts behind white barn. It’s a state park so $10 to park unless you can find open parking on the road. The climb is worth it and the views are stunning.

Didn’t make it all the way to post summit but there are plenty of panoramic views regardless! It can get steep at times but the views are worth it.

We intended on hiking the full Andrew Molera Loop trail but it was closed because the river was impassable due to all the rain. This was the only trail open but it was not a disappointment! It was roughly 2.6 miles to the top so we did 5 miles total. Be prepared to hike straight up! The grind was quite a workout but the views were absolutely beautiful the whole way. We even spotted a little snow at the top. There were a few muddy spots but nothing major. You can’t go wrong with any Big Sur hike!

It was the only trail open at Andrew Molera State Park because of the heavy rains lately. Great ocean views and a good workout!
