Nice walk, not really a hike. Busy in the morning and afternoon with dogs.

Took the Cub scouts on this hike, if 6-9 year old can do it, so can you.

Great open hike with only two moderate elevation changes. I took my dog who loved smelling all the desert creosote and sage (bee careful of the bees on the sage!). Nice covered rest area about half way thru. Careful of broken glass by the tables if you have a dog with you. Nice views. Went around noon on a Tuesday, mid-May and only passed four groups total. Although it's only a short distance, you'll need more water than you think! I should add that I am a beginner:)

Went nice and early. Dealt with lots of passing bikers--they were nice, just frequent.

This is one of the few trails near Palm Desert that is dog-friendly. On the morning of 12/31/2014, the temperature was in low 40's but the wind made it feel much colder. The top of the mountains were covered with snow from the winter storm from the day before. The place was absolutely gorgeous and serene. I started this short hike (more like a nature walk) from the East Cove trailhead. I made a loop and walked 1.62 miles in total and gained 134 ft. Easy hike. First, pass the first 2 junctions then at the 3rd junction, turn right. You are on DIKE. Stay on the trail until you meet a trail on your right. That will take you to Cove Oasis where the palm trees and picnic tables are. Once you reach Cove Oasis, turn right then turn left to go back to the trailhead. This is both dog and family friendly.
