parts of this trail are pretty overgrown. most of the trail is in pretty good shape and well used, but there is not a lot of clear signage for this particular trail. The views and weather were nice, but there wasn't a whole lot that was interesting about the landscape, as there was not a lot of variation, rock formations, or differing vegetation. There is a lot of animal life: deer, coyote, rabbit, bird, etc. For me personally, I prefer more mountainous and forested scenery, but the coastal views were nice. There were a ton of mountain bikers and poison oak as well. Overall just so so.

Did a short loop out horse camp road to East Boundary trail. Then took cutoff to Hazard Peak trail and then down Manzanita back to Horse Camp road. Walked through horsecamp to cable trail and looped back up to parking turnout on Pecho. Nice fairly easy loop if you don't have time for the longer loop to Hazard Peak.

I believe this was my first hike when I moved back to SLO COUNTY and was living in Los Osos. Not for the faint of heart and definitely bring lots of water. It goes way back so best to hike with a partner and bring a phone just in case. Moderate inclines and great views once you get up in the mountains.

Bring a trekking pole to swat away spider webs if you go early in the morning! BEAUTIFUL trail. Favorite I've done in the area so far. We met up with East Boundary via the Hazard Peak trail & then headed down Islay Road back out to Pecho Road. 9 mile loop, highly recommend!

Go out here a lot it is a Great place to ride mountain bikes via connector trails, see many people hiking out there as well but mostly mountain bikers of all skill levels. Lots of elevation and rocky descents are out there as well. Good place to take a lunch as far out as you can go to relax in solitude.
