Eagle Rock Via East Topanga Fire Road is a 3.8 mile lightly trafficked out and back trail located near Malibu, California that features beautiful wild flowers and is rated as moderate. The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, running, and nature trips and is accessible year-round.
A nice hike with views of downtown Los Angeles, Santa Monica, and nearby mountains. The views during the hike include downtown LA, Santa Monica bay/beach, the mountains and Topanga Cyn Rd. The trail is mostly sunny, some parts are steeper than others, and some are shaded and cooler. Some of the best views are during sunset.
Hydrate! Bring lots of water and maybe some light snacks to keep you going. Some areas of the trail can be hot and sunny depending on what time you go so bring lots of sunblock and a hat for sun protection.
Long wide rocky windy dirt uphill without much shade with beautiful views
Beautiful as always, and flowers starting to bloom! Grassy fields, majestic oaks, and even deer
Preciosas vistas. Caminamos con neblina pero eso lo hizo más bonito y al llegar a las rocas se pudo apreciar una mejor vista.
Gorgeous section of Topanga State Park. This time I took the fire road both up to and down from Eagle Rock because two different people had warned me about rattlesnakes on that section of the loop. I saw one last week in the same area, so they are really out and about this time of year!
Beautiful views - saw the blimp covering the Genesis Invitational in Pacific Palisades. Felt accomplished that I completed this trail (age 60), as of the 100+ or so people we encountered, maybe a handful appeared to be in our age group - everyone else was 20s, 30s, or 40s. Incline not too bad the way up, but there were a few areas where it was more prolonged and steeper than others. Nice, wide fire road, so room to navigate others on the trail - most had on masks, but not everyone. Even though the signs everywhere say no dogs, we did see two. Nice bench at the top to sit on and take in the view of the mountains, Eagle Rock, and the ocean - we saw all the way to Catalina Island today. At temps in the low to mid 60s and a gusty wind, the weather was perfect. Parking not too much of an issue at 1:45PM despite a sign saying the parking lot was full (maybe we just lucked out).
Loved this hike! Wasn’t too awful but was sweating a lot in the direct sun. The ending part to get to the actual rock was straight uphill and gave a good burn but SO worth it for the view. I went another way down and got a little lost so just follow the trail signs lol. Totally want to do it again, wish I had spent more time at the rock.
Nice and easy. Probably not good during the summer because of the heat and no shade.
What a perfect hike. Just the right amount of easy and moderate. The views are incredible and Eagle Rock gets you in touch with the Native spirit.
Beautiful cloudy skies and cool weather for most of the 10.5 mile hike
Another beautiful day in Topanga. Had a nice chat with Alice and Raul about hiking trails.
