Eagle Falls Trail to Bayview Trail Junction is a 5 mile moderately trafficked out and back trail located near Tahoma, California that features a lake and is rated as moderate. The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, nature trips, and bird watching and is best used from April until September.
Beautiful. We were one of a few people on the trail. However we couldn’t go far even with spikes on our shoes because snow had fallen and no one had packed down the trail before us. I recommend snowshoes and some trekking poles during the winter! Very steep almost the entire way.
Did this trial twice: first time in June 2020, second time in September 2020. This trail has spectacular views and is a good workout, but not too hard. Once you pass Eagle Lake there are no crowds anymore. Until Eagle Lake it’s a little annoying as only a few people wear masks and nobody follows trail etiquette. I’d still recommend this trail. It’s awesome! When you’re fast, you can get past Eagle Lake in 20-25 minutes. After that, the trail is fantastic!
Ditto what everyone else is saying about crowds (Saturday morning), most folks not wearing masks and no parking (even at 0745! Had to park up the road at a pay lot). Scenery and views are awesome though. Even threw in the Vikingsholm at the end for beach Scenery and an extra 2 miles.
A great hike and great backdrop view of Lake Tahoe midway to Eagle Lake. Go a little earlier as parking sucks, and also cooler... you don’t want to go late in the afternoon as the hike isn’t too bad, but lots of steps along the way and it will be too hot during the summer.
Much harder than moderate, but very worth the views and lakes along the way.
trail is very difficult, straight up hill for 3/4 miles and levels out about a mile into Velma. Because it's out and back you have to walk back downhill for 1,900 ft so bring good shoes and all the water. perfect for dogs.
Gorgeous trail, started at 8am to beat the crowds to no avail. Extremely packed up to the junction of eagle and Velma trails. If you want to get Covid, head out there. Tons of people, no social distancing and barely anyone wearing masks. Mosquitos were out of control once you hit Eagle Lake. Recommend doing the loop and descending at Bayview through Granite Lake. Less people and as beautiful descent.
Did this trail back in the beginning of November but I did it all the way to Middle Velma Lakes and Dicks lake then back up to the bayview junction and took the longer more scenic way down via the bayview trail. When you get to Velma lakes they are all diffrent but the best and largest is Middle Velma its clear with alot of small islands in it! Great trail and experience beautiful view of Emerald Bay, Cascade lake, Granite lake and Lake Tahoe on the way down! Still one of my top trails to do again in early Summer.
