Didn't get to the trail itself because you need to pay for a 7-day pass which is $25. I would've went if there was a day pass, but there was no purpose for us for an entire week. I'm sure the trail is awesome!
P.S. I wish the last comment(Craig) would've mentioned a pass price before you can even get close to the trail, because I check reviews every time i go to a new trail.

Did this mid-January. Weather was fantastic and and starts as an unmarked diversion from the Split Rock Loop trail. Trail itself is not as obvious as the well worn paths the masses usually keep to so navigating was initially a bit dicey. We quickly figured out that plentiful cairns marked the way. The steep parts are made challenging by loose rocks but that’s part of the challenge. The dwelling and mine are fascinating snapshots in time. You could imagine what the miners lives might have been like in that isolated spot literally in the middle of nowhere. The little antique Knick knacks that are on the shelves were obviously placed by well meaning visitors (when you compare older posted pictures of the inside) but they’re reflective of an endearing effort to preserve and enhance the experience. Were the site an easily accessible destination , it no doubt would have been picked clean by those less conscientious. Altogether a splendid trip!
