Hiking

Pretty muddy and slippery at points because of the steepness. I recommend going counter clockwise to avoid some of this. Most people still had their dogs ON leash even in the OFF leash section which made me feel like I needed to leash mine as well but that made it really hard to navigate slippery areas being attached to a dog but I get some people think it’s more covid safe.

Hiking

Good trail overall. We went counterclockwise and the first half mile was pretty mundane as it followed the road and behind several houses. The trees began once you descend into the canyon. The trails are all hard pack dirt, so it was very easy to walk on. There were enough up and downs to get a little work out.

Lovely loop in Redwood Regional starting a little farther south and west of other entrances. This hike doesn’t start with redwoods like the other entrances do, but you’ll eventually get to the beautiful trees.

Hiking

Mostly shaded, surprisingly dry right now despite the lack of sun. There’s a lot of horse poop on the Monterio trail, so keep an eye out for that. You eventually pass by the Skyline ranch, and the last bit is along a row of houses, which felt a little awkward being so close to everyone’s back yards. Beautiful trees and canopies but no large/vast views.

Walking

Agree that there are lots of puppers on the first part of the trail. Trail was not as muddy as I was expecting given recent hard rains.

Hiking

Nice trail, first half feels too busy and way too many dogs. Second half much quieter and nicer. Good amount of shade.

Awesome trail to run - just enough elevation to make it interesting but the whole thing is totally runnable!

Hiking

Beautiful hike however I missed the switchback and ended up going a bit further and ended up by a horse corral lol. There was a short bit after the horse corral where the trail was poorly maintained but thankfully I saw some more hikers making me feel a bit more at ease. Note to self, don’t do this part of the hike alone-or maybe I was just a bit paranoid? All in all, beautiful hike that ended up to be 3.7 miles that clocked in at about 1.5 hours.

Hiking

Great hike with lots of shade. Golden Spike trail is fascinating with some narrow passages and lots of back and forth amidst redwood trees and a few streams. Enough climbs to keep it interesting but on the east side of moderate.

Lovely hike. The only issue we had was that the “loop” includes more than just Dunn trail. We got off track a couple times thinking we should stay only on Dunn.

Hiking

Perfect mix of sun and shade. Note that you have to take Serpentine and Goldenspike trails to get to Dunn if you are starting counterclockwise from the south. No benches or water fountains on the trail.

I'm 6 months pregnant and this was a good workout for me. This is a moderate hike with relatively mild ascends and descends if you tackle it counter clockwise. Lots of shade, beautiful redwoods, and nice views. The only downside were the horse piles near the beginning and end of the trail.

It is an awesome trail!! Minor issue I encountered was having to maneuver around the horse piles in the middle of the trail
