Unclear how to do the far part of the loop - very steep trails through dense redwood (did not feel safe hiking alone with my dog and no cell reception/unsure I was on the correct path). Lots of traffic on the initial fire road approach, both human and doggie. But pretty views!
nice wide paths, good for trail running and staying socially distanced. not many people in the first 2/3, but busier on dunn trail.
Some bugs but really nice. Not too crowded people were wearing mask. Dog friendly and lots of little critters
The hike was really nice- trail was well maintained, nice patches of redwoods, smelled the pines, bay, and eucalyptus. Moderate workout. BUT- I parked along the road near the trailhead, was gone for 90 min, and when I came back my car was broken into, front passenger window completely smashed. Someone had gone down the whole line of cars and broken windows in every car! It was midday Saturday, lots of people around. I couldn’t believe it. Really nice hike but I won’t be back given the break-in, damn.
Was a good moderate hike —the redwood trees were a bonus — could smell the fresh cedar
