Beautiful hike with gorgeous views to the lakes you pass and the surrounding mountains. Trail was empty on my way out at 7am but busier (especially closer to the car park) as I returned at 10:45, with people and their dogs heading for the fishing lakes. The trail is well marked and easy to follow, though it gets narrow at the very end along Pika Lake. Some bugs around the water but nothing gnarly.

great hike with awesome views and plenty of places to camp. Best place to camp at the end of Duck Lake at the waterfall.

The Alpenglow at Pika around sunset is amazing. If an off leash dog greets you on the trail, don't complain. Rather, smile and say hello because they are Gods gift to mankind.

Not as photogenic as some trails in the area, but gorgeous in person. This trail had the most traffic of the dozen or so I’ve hiked in Mammoth/June. We started early, but the giant parking lot was full by mid-day.

The trail head starts out with many switchbacks with a decent elevation gain to start. It eventually flattens out to Arrowhead Lake and Skelton Lake, before returning to that elevation gain. However the views back towards Mammoth Lakes are absolutely gorgeous. Bring that insect repellent, as the mosquitos are thriving during the summer. Once you reach the peak, you’ll see Duck Lake! Work your way down towards Pika Lake. You’ll walk along Duck Lake and it’s crystal clear water. There are meadows just off the trail with streams. A mile further, you’ll reach the end of the trail at Pika Lake. Bring your backpack, hammock, jet-boiler, and a tent. This is a perfect place to camp for a night.

Beautiful Lake and trail the whole way a real hidden gem! As if Duck Lake wasn't gorgeous enough this trail takes you to the bottom at the bay of the Lake with beautiful blue waters as it goes around the bay and over the hill to another gorgeous setting at Pika Lake! It was like a two for one Duck Lake and Pika Lake on the same trail! I was tempted to jump in the clear water but it was still kinda cold and remembered the water is from the snowmelt. The only part that is not fun on this trail is the steep ascent back up to the trailhead other then that really worth the extra effort past Duck Lake!

Don’t let the difficult rating scare you away. A challenging but do able day hike, this trail rewards you with a beautiful view of the Eastern Sierras and a pristine alpine/ glacial lake (Duck lake). This trail follows many lakes that are connected by a running stream so if you want to go light on water and sterilize your own as you go you can. I went towards the end of July when temps were 77 deg around noon but with the high elevation and lack of clouds it gets warm, I started to delayer half way through. Don’t forget the sunscreen and bug spray

This place was perfect for us, the first day we backpacked to pika lake then crossed the stream that runs along the main trail to enter the apex of the 4 lakes in the valley. The second day we just explored the valley and would return to our site periodically for meals and lounging. This place is paradise, treat it gently!

One of my favorite Mammoth hikes. Mountains, Lakes, flowers .. everything. Pika is a hidden gem right next to Duck Lake. The trail to Pika is better than the Lake itself.

Great hike. We came across one couple who had camped there the night before. Other than them, we saw no one. Mosquitos were pretty bad all along the hike. Wouldn't rate it difficult. Probably more moderate. Still a few spots where you had to traverse across snow, but nothing too bad. Views are incredible.

The duck pass and duck Lake Trail are always absolutely amazing with vistas that are unmatched and then up around a little curve comes this tiny little beautiful lake of Pikalake

Backpacked this in fall. No one was around. Such beautiful, clear blue lakes. The colors in the fall are amazing. Would definitely do it again to share with someone. I wouldn't rate it as difficult. Maybe hard.
