A steep scramble starts off this trek to a unique area where grassy depressions decorate the sage covered ridge. The climb starts again after the last lake, although less steeply, to reach Ortega Trail.

Trail is not marked. Very steep climb to the ridge then a pleasant climb with spectacular views. The trail is very overgrown though making it slow going. Made it to the first dry lake. The trail seemed completely overgrown here so we turned back.
