The pictures are a little deceiving. A lot of the flowers aren’t blooming but besides that it is very beautiful. The movie scene is very cool and the fields are very relaxing. Make sure you go left first it’s a easier way down.

Love any trail in Cronan Ranch! This one has beautiful hills and views! The wildflowers are in full bloom, and plenty of greenery to see! Trails are always maintained and it’s nice that they are easily marked so you can hop onto the next trail and know where you still are! Take the trail going downhill if your not looking for a super workout! Even when the Parking lot was packed we didn’t see anyone else until we took a detour down to the river! So glad they are open during quarantine!

Wildflowers are still in bloom. Parking lot full plus road but we could easily socially distance ourselves. Take the up down trail from the back of the loop back to front for a great uphill workout

Great loop! Lots of parking, beautiful green hills and many wildflowers right now, plus some good river points. Not a lot of shade. Definitely recommended.

It was really pretty! (river access, restrooms, some shade, hills, lots of wildflower, many comfortable benches with amazing scenery+ geocaching too! ). It's best to get there early for parking, lots of people start coming in at 9. Also, the morning is breezy and air smells more crisp. Go off trail and take the Sky Ridge for an amazing top view while sitting on a bench.

What a beautiful trail! Mostly open & sunny throughout, but there is a stretch of downhill that is shaded. The poppies & lupines are magical this time of year! A good amount of steep uphill for a few stretches & moderate in difficulty, but nothing crazy. We saw 3 rattlesnakes on & around the trail so be on the look out.

Really nice trail. Most is open although there is part that has more cover. Wildflowers were out in outrageous quantities including California Poppies.

This is a great short hike. When you reach the first official sign of the trail, about 1/4 there will be another steep trail (not in the AllTrails map) heading Northeast. If you want to add another beautiful 1.5 miles to the Down & Up trail, take this climb (on the left side), which will take you to the highest hill (around 1,300 feet). This unmapped trail will then end up in the middle of the Connector Trail. Make a right to head back to the Down & Up Trail. When you reach the Down & Up trail again, make a left toward the East Ridge Trail connector and follow the loop. Beautiful views. You will share the trail with dog walkers, horse riders, mountain bikers, paragliders and believe it or not, we even saw a guy in one of those one-wheel boards. It was very entertaining, but on weekends, the parking lot gets full fast.

Great trail. Bathrooms at trailhead and halfway through. Gets pretty warm even at this time of year. Nice view of the river. Take the trail to the left if it’s wet. Makes it easier in case of slipping.

Note: I didn’t do this exact one but did do all of it minus the short entrance hike. I went Gerle Loop (part)-> Connector trail->Down and Up Trail (whole trail) Pros: -river access adds variety -good views -lots of restrooms and parking (Gerle loop side) -good variety of hills -lots of intersecting trails to adjust as you so desire Cons: -90% unshaded -ground can get really hot on sunny/summer days (mainly if you have a dog) -sooooooo much horse poop -road noise in the beginning (Gerle Loop side) Tips: -bring lots of water, sunscreen and sun cover -enjoyable hike that can be difficult in some spots due to steep climbof hill (down and up portion) -lots of other trails so can keep mixing it up -great for dogs -lots of fine dirt so expect to get pretty dirty

Always a nice comfortable walk down to the river. Can’t complain.

I completed this trail last July. It was easy but there is little shade and the trail is very dusty. Not my favorite trail.

Nice easy hike with the family. Found 4 rattlesnakes off trail minding their own business.

Good trail with views of mountains, green grass, flowers, streams and the river. Horses, dogs and bikes also use the trail. Much of the trail is exposed with no trees, but the halfway point of the river is nice and shaded.

Appropriately rated, took my three children, youngest is 6 and they got through it just fine. Might just be me, but hard to navigate trails with out using the app. I had limited service (as I like it) so just kept going in a loop hoping it was the right one...

Love going up the trail

Nice river access but a lot of the hike was long stretches of no shade. Cool old shack towards the half way point of the trail that was used in a movie.

Probably better for biking. There’s zero shade for a lot of it so make sure you go earlier. Still really liked this hike.

Went in late May. Much of the surrounding land was just dead weeds, very little shade, and you could drive a truck down most of the trail. In fact, many parts of the trail were really just a road. Sometimes poorly marked, needed to pull the map up at times to figure out where to go. Nice access to the river though. All in all, there's nicer places to go hiking!

This is a pretty easy trail, easy to follow, some brief incline/declines. We went in the mid afternoon, and was pretty hot, wear sunscreen. We saw a bunch of hawks, two deer, runner, a biker, some horses...and a long snake that was half way taking up the trail! Not sure what kind it was. I wish it was a little more challenging, for my ability, but did enjoy myself.

Nice cool day on this hike. Fairly easy with well maintained trails and signs. Lots of blue oaks. Was not super crowded and the sheep were fun to see. Would definitely do a longer trail on return.

Pretty and very well marked trail. Lots of flowers and green in the spring. There are also connecting trails so you can add more distance. I think it's a little more on the "easy" side.
