Doty Trust Park to Pumpkin Rock is a 3.9 mile moderately trafficked out and back trail located near Riverside, California that offers scenic views and is rated as moderate. The park is really nice. Although there was no sign for the trail head or for the rest of the trail for that matter, so you really need to follow Alltrails map. It was very, very, very windy today, it was literally moving me and I had to fight it to keep going . Went up to the cross on the hill and I saw the Pumpkin Rock from afar so I decided to make my way over and found connecting trails that lead up to it. Then I found other trails connecting back to the park and headed back to my car. It was great, 2 for 1!
Beware of dog! If you follow the exact path shown on the app, you will reach a cul de sac at about a mile and a half into the hike. There is a house at the end with a separate pool area (end of Peacock Ln). We were walking along the path behind the house when their large dog (not sure of breed) came out and was aggressively barking at us. We started to walk away slowly then suddenly the dog started charging towards us (there is a fence, but it looked short, and the dog could probably have jumped over). Thats when we started to run away, fortunately when we looked back the dog did not continue to chase us. This is just a heads up for anyone planning to hike this path to Pumkin Rock.
actually didn't make it to the pumpkin. I went a different way
trail disappeared about half way up. we ended up having to make our own way. must keep all trails app open to have a general idea which way you need to go
Okay I may have went the hardest way going up the mountain. But the view up at the top is so beautiful... didn’t quite make it all the way to pumpkin rock because of the heat but next time definitely not rock climbing up and going the easier way up there.
No shade on this trail, and the first half mile is straight up on some gravel, but overall a fun trail to a fun destination.
Difficult to keep track on trail. But beautiful anyway. Enjoy it during spring to see the greens
There’s a part of the trail that’s really I eat grown so we had to pass it up & follow the next trail that connects. Great route! Lots of ppl at sunset
