Short climb up the rock after driving into the dirt road. Very peaceful even tho there was tons of ppl. Beautiful views.

We drove in and parked at the base of the rock. Easy, quick scurry up to the top. Beautiful views, I would highly recommend to anyone visiting Sequoia National Forest.

This past week, my group and I watched the sunset and went rappelling off of this rock! It’s was a great first experience. Be warned that the hike back up is tough. Our guides had ropes.

We parked at a turn out on the highway in order to get an actual walk in. If you take the unpaved road all the way, you can basically just drive up to the rock and climb up and around. Make sure your shoes have good grip so you don't slide off the rocks :P

This was a great trail to be able to drive up close to the dome with the family and let the kids go out and hike around. The views were absolutely gorgeous and the Forrest was excellent! I would highly recommend it!

I walked the Dome Rock today and was treated with the most glorious view. I would go here again.

You can actually drive up to within a few yards of Dome Rock, but park below for an easy hike under the pines. The rock provides some of the most spectacular views you can get anywhere. The sides slope down and are deceptively steep, so watch your young ones.

Great view

Super short and easy hike up to Dome Rock. There is an absolutely beautiful expanse of forest and mountains below to view and appreciate from the top. There is absolutely NOTHING between you and certain death here. The rock just slopes off into a sheer drop to the valley floor and getting anywhere near the drop-off will bring visions of what-ifs crowding into your mind. You will truly contemplate life here... through the consideration of your mortality. Enjoy.

Really short if you drive to the parking. But the views are magnificent

Great views! At some times of the year you can drive on the dirt road basically all the way to the rock, or park off the highway and make it a real hike. I like it at sunset.

The trail had some incredible views. You can see needles lookout for most of the trail. It's a quick walk. There is a gate that says road closed keep off. I took that as pedestrians only lol
I parked in the highway where the sign said dome rock and walked from there. Like I said, very short hike

A quick walk to a spectacular view! It's a short distance, but all uphill So you could become short of breath if you are out of shape, nespecially at that high of an altitude. I would suggest decent shoes because you will be walking on slick solid granite with a possibility of loose rocks causing some loose footing for the beginner or for children.

Definitely more of a walk up hill then a hike if you park in the designated parking lot. But awesome views, good spot to hangout, eat lunch and see the sights.

Stunning views

Not a hike at all more of a walk up a hill. When you get up the hill it's a sight to see.

Hiked to this peak from near R-Ranch which is mainly along roads for a more of an all day thing and to get the miles and the elevation gain once on top the views of the Kern Gorge are just amazing. It was a nice clear day.

We call this Elephant Dome, it's off of Nobe Young Creek and Camp Whitsett a boy scout camp.
Fished here all my life, thanks DAD for wonderful years of family fun.

Doesn't really qualify as a hike unless you park off the main road and hike the quarter mile or so on the dirt road. It's more of a scramble up the backside of the dome, but the views are spectacular. It's off the beaten track, so it keeps the crowds away. Just a few die hards quietly enjoying the view.
