Took this trip in August 2019. This is a great backpacking or day hike trip to experience the Sierras. Perfect too for first timers. Spent the first night at Cliff Lake (no fish) and the second and third at beautiful Island Lake. Incredible views there.
Amazing trail to some beautiful lakes. Didn’t follow this loop in its entirety - mainly used it as an alternate way to get in to the Dinkey Lakes area. Camped out at Rock Lake for two nights, caught some small-but-tasty Brook Trout for dinner, scrambled up to and across Three Sisters via Island Lake (gorgeous lake, AMAZING 360-degree views from the top) checked out Fingerbowl Lake (also very beautiful) on the way back to the main loop trail, hiked back out the next day.
