Dilley Preserve Canyon-Mariposa Loop Trail is a 2 mile moderately trafficked loop trail located near Laguna Beach, California that features a lake and is rated as moderate. The trail offers a number of activity options and is accessible year-round.
If you stay to the right and take the ridge trail you can make the hike about 3 miles. Take the black jack trail to get to the ridge. Very steep and narrow path up river rocks but smooth mild hike after that. The lake had ducks in it and everything was green. Beautiful views of the snow capped mountains. Thankful for all the recent rain.
it was an okay hike, but the lake is completely dried up now and it was very hot. there are some nice hills and wildflowers but not a very interesting or unique hike. we some some hawks and a road runner though:) also you have to pay $3 for parking. go on a cooler day or else youll be sweating like crazy
Great hike, but don't do it on a hot day. Very few if any beach breezes
My favorite trail run!
Nice trail! Watch the really steep descent on the way back from Ridgetop Trail to the parking lot. Phew!
This was a nice walk this time of year and on an overcast day. Wildflowers are blooming and lots of birds and butterflies. Also many lovely meadows. I did lake to Edison to mariposa trails and also went back canyon trail a bit.
I'd say this is a walk, not a hike, but definitely lovely. only big negative for me is you never get away from the road noise, there is always a traffic hum :(
Nice hike on cooler days.
