The 1.0 mile seems longer because it drops down and back out of the canyon. We were there July 4th, wished we had more water but did alright. Great scenery, fairly significant elevation drop and gain. Creek at the bottom is great. I hope they can open back up after the Bobcat Fire in Oct 2020. One cool note: the rocks there are the other half of the formation that split on the Earthquake Fault over at Mormon Rocks by the 15 fwy! Geology Rocks!

Usually I would say that this hike was too short, but it was so beautiful, I didn’t mind! There’s a pretty creek, and lots of really cool rock formations. Certain parts of the trail are a bit rocky and you have to actually climb up them a bit, but it isn’t difficult. Parking was a breeze - there’s a good sized lot. Also, just off the trail, there’s a small patch of beautiful evergreens I recommend checking out!

A little short and hardly no shade, but it was fun. We made the most of it.

Thought this would be a great hike, but after driving an hour to get there, found that the gate was closed and a sign said they are closed on Monday and Tuesday. Open other days at 10:30

Main parking lot was closed when I arrived (before 9am on 7/25), had to park on side of road and walk a few minutes to the visitor center. No big deal. Fun little trail. I went off trail and did a little rock scramble to start. Was a little buggy, pesky flies here and there. Then came back and started at the beginning but apparently I went the wrong way once I got to the main trail and never made it to the waterfall, just walked up and out back out to the start. Oh well. Stopped at a little roadside cafe for breakfast before heading home. Wasn’t anything spectacular...

Love taking my dog on this loop. Nice decline and a nice climb up a hill on the return up.

This is on the desert side of the CA so expect a very hot hiking experience during summer. Not much of the trail to follow. Was expecting to go to the falls but my buddy wasn't able to make it already. Not much water on the creek at this time. Aside from the rock formations, anything is ordinary.

I love this trail. It’s one of my favorite places on earth. Lots of mosquitos. The water still running! Love it. Dogs are allowed with leash. Social distancing is being observed. No large group, picnic area and the nature center is closed. Restrooms always have TP.

Beautiful hike with creek at the bottom. The chair was closed for maintenence, and the loop has switchbacks with almost all elevation gain on the return. They do have you wear masks in the parking lot and when you pass other people.

Easy trail. We took our 6 year old and he did not have any problems. You can go off trail and there is a nice creek to cool of in.

I’ve been to this trail a few times. I love it! Unfortunately I went this morning. I got there around 6:30am and gates were closed. I waited until 7am to see if they open, but nothing. Does anyone know what time they open the gate to the parking lot?

Kid friendly? Depends on what age group defines "kid" for you. The 1-mile loop is best suited, IMO, to kids 7+. The route is actually quite narrow and rock-ridden so some sections are pretty dangerous. If you're not a complete noob, however, a novice should be able to handle this trail. There's a small river at the bottom, which is a nice reward prior to the steep trek back up. Overall a good nature experience if you don't run into hoodrats blasting vulgar rap music on their portable speaker .

Spectacular hike. Not quite as easy or kid-friendly as I expected, but I’m glad we went. We’ll come back again when the kids are older.

Not too busy today at around 4, social distancing was relatively easy. People adhering to COVID rules was okay when there were to cops in the parkin lot, worse once they left.

Good hike, but not quite as easy as other “easy” trials are. Still a fun day. The loop is about a mile, but if you take a side trail down to the water we ended up clocking a little over 3. The river was nice a cool and clean on.m a hot spring day! Some of the trail is pretty steep and rocky so I would not recommend for small children or small dogs. LACP&R opened the trail this Saturday 5/9 and we were greeted by a volunteer with instructions to wear masks in the parking lot but that we were free to take them off once we reached the trail head. The nature center and other facilities are still closed.

There's "closed", and there's "2 sheriffs standing outside their parked vehicles at the trailhead closed". On 4/3, warm sunday, Devils Punchbowl was the latter :(

It was a great trail! A little tough for my 4 year old at times. We went off trail to see the little creek which was super easy to get to. Overall a great hike.
