Very easy trail with lots of benches and plaques with history and geography lessons. It’s all paved, and only has a few inclines which are all gradual. The end of devils slide connects back with the freeway with another parking lot, and since our dog is a little more sensitive to cars, we turned back at that point.

Fully paved for walking & biking, not exactly a “trail” but more like an old road repurposed for recreational use. Outstanding views make it definitely worthwhile and highly recommended for kids and families in particular.

Very good hike, all pavement and pretty easy. There are some inclines, poison ivy-but mostly off the trail. It’s perfect for kids 5+ and dogs. We took our dog and there are plenty of spots to stop throughout for rest breaks.

Nice easy walking trail. I would recommend more for people living in the area versus traveling from out of town to "hike"

Easy and short trail. Traile is paved. only for pedestrians, bikes, dogs, and horses. Beautiful views to the ocean. Lookout - Kind of a Costal Protection. Base on a rocky ledge, the rusted remains of a base -end station remaind us of the days before missiles and satellite surveillance systems. California's first coastal protection defended our seaports from attack by big gun battleships. Eighty-one such emplacements were built from Point Reyes to Half Moon Bay between 1892 and 1949. These 10-foot by 10-foot rooms were manneed and equipped to gun batteries so they could aim the guns. "The Devil's Slide fire control station" was the "eyes" for six-inch gun in Pacifica. These structures have been abandoned since 1949, when modern aircraft defenses removed the treat once posed by battleships.

Nice, basically easy walk, which is on the old road. Beautiful views! Saw whales from on high. Great for a family with kids.

Absolutely beautiful. We saw humpback whales breaching as we walked. Easy incline. Only negative is limited parking.

Great views. It's all paved and can be quite steep. There are two different parking lots. If you're headed north on highway one the first lot on the south side is accessible whereas the one on the north is not available without making an illegal left turn. It's also fun to walk along the old highway one.

Great little hike. Nice grade on the up hill to get your backside in shape. Old paved highway makes it easy to follow.

Unique only because it was road we drove for decades and after the tunnel we were able hike it after they opened it up. Great views!

It’s a scenic hike along the cliffs, very brief, and paved so great for that.

Keep in mind that this trail is an old highway, so it's entirely paved and roughly the width of two/three decent-sized cars. If you want an escape into nature, walking up the nearby Montara Mountain or even San Pedro Point would be a more fitting alternative. That being said, this hike was beautiful and unique. Hiking on an old highway overlooking the coast has a certain type of essence to it that elevates its quality. Since the morning was clear and the air quality was nice (it had just rained), I was able to take some decent photos along the path. Going North to South, the trail culminates at an old watchout/bunker perilously sitting atop an eroded section of rock. The coastline is visible in both directions. To the North, the tunnel and jagged coastline (with a steep cove below) offers wonderful photography options. To the South, Montara State Beach and a more timid coastline decorates the landscape. Montara Peak and Peak Mountain are both visible from where the hike ends. Overall, a relaxing outing that isn't too busy from 7:00-8:30 AM. Would work well as a bike ride paired with a longer route as well.

Yes. I will definitely do it again. Easy plain road which suits both kids and adults and most of the mornings the hills keep the sun out and shade all in. Expansive views of the ocean and nice stroll.

One of my favorite trails in the bay. I've come back to do this one multiple times with new friends. Love that it's a quick easy trail right off Route 1 with plenty of parking. Saw tons of whale spouts and waving tales this last time I went! Never crowded and so beautiful!

Lovely views but a walk along an old highway is just that. Worth doing once and great for visitors. No challenge.
