This is a paved trail with incredible views of the ocean. There are free parking lots on both the north and south sides of the trail. This is a great place to bring your family to hike, bike, and enjoy the views. People local to the area will remember the trail as a treacherous part of Highway 1, but after construction of the Devil’s Slide Tunnel, the highway was turned into a hiking path. There are benches along the path to stop and take in your surroundings, as well as interpretive signs that describe the history and geography of the area. Keep an eye out for migrating birds and whales. The parking lots are open from sunrise to sunset. Dogs on leash are permitted.

I biked this trial with my kids (ages 7 and 10) on a Wednesday morning and we had the trail almost entirely to ourselves. Beautiful views. I recommend starting the trail on the south side, because then you can do the uphill walking /biking first. It is mostly a gentle grade except for one hill that has a 9% grade.

Paved with nice ocean views. The binoculars did not work though. Lots of birds. Lots of dogs on lease. Very easy. Lots of benches and not steep.

I did the trail both ways on a Onewheel XR. The trail was perfect for riding, and the views were amazing. My only complaint has nothing to do with the trail itself: parking is a bit limited, so get there early or go on a weekday if you can.

We did this hike in mid March, 2019, and loved it. The road was easy, the views were stunning, and both the birds and the rock formations were memorable. The hike was also easy to get to. Very much recommend.

Very easy trail with lots of benches and plaques with history and geography lessons. It’s all paved, and only has a few inclines which are all gradual. The end of devils slide connects back with the freeway with another parking lot, and since our dog is a little more sensitive to cars, we turned back at that point.

Fully paved for walking & biking, not exactly a “trail” but more like an old road repurposed for recreational use. Outstanding views make it definitely worthwhile and highly recommended for kids and families in particular.

Very good hike, all pavement and pretty easy. There are some inclines, poison ivy-but mostly off the trail. It’s perfect for kids 5+ and dogs. We took our dog and there are plenty of spots to stop throughout for rest breaks.

Nice easy walking trail. I would recommend more for people living in the area versus traveling from out of town to "hike"

Easy and short trail. Traile is paved. only for pedestrians, bikes, dogs, and horses. Beautiful views to the ocean. Lookout - Kind of a Costal Protection. Base on a rocky ledge, the rusted remains of a base -end station remaind us of the days before missiles and satellite surveillance systems. California's first coastal protection defended our seaports from attack by big gun battleships. Eighty-one such emplacements were built from Point Reyes to Half Moon Bay between 1892 and 1949. These 10-foot by 10-foot rooms were manneed and equipped to gun batteries so they could aim the guns. "The Devil's Slide fire control station" was the "eyes" for six-inch gun in Pacifica. These structures have been abandoned since 1949, when modern aircraft defenses removed the treat once posed by battleships.

Great views. It's all paved and can be quite steep. There are two different parking lots. If you're headed north on highway one the first lot on the south side is accessible whereas the one on the north is not available without making an illegal left turn. It's also fun to walk along the old highway one.

Great little hike. Nice grade on the up hill to get your backside in shape. Old paved highway makes it easy to follow.
