Daley Ranch is a 3,058-acre conservation area acquired in 1996 by the City of Escondido and is managed in perpetuity for the preservation of a biologically unique and diverse habitat area of regional importance. Visitors enjoy a variety of recreational and educational opportunities and experiences in a historically significant setting. The property contains a number of natural vegetation communities including lush oak woodlands, coastal sage scrub and chaparral, grasslands, and riparian areas. Approximately 1.5 miles from the La Honda entry is the redwood ranch house (currently a private caretaker's residence), redwood barn, and numerous outbuildings of historical interest. Daley Ranch offers over 20 miles of multipurpose trails for hiking, mountain biking, and equestrian use. Six distinct trails cover most of the property. Most popular are the Boulder Loop Trail (2.4 miles) which affords outstanding views of Escondido, and the Ranch House Loop (2.5 miles), which passes two small ponds and the site of Daley's original log cabin. $5 to park For more information about the park entrances: http://daleyranch.org/explore/entrances-driving-directions/

Got a little lost, would highly suggest keeping a map close by. Great hike overall. Little hidden ponds were fun to find.

This was a great hike. A good workout but not too hard. It feels way out there but really just a few minutes off the freeway. Pay close attention to the trail markers to stay on the 10 mile loop. We got lost the first time we did this and ended up hiking a total of 14 miles because we had taken a wrong turn at some point.

Fun, beautiful hike! We saw many coyotes and rabbits! Very scenic and lots of shade. I would definitely recommend to others who are looking for a long, somewhat challenging at times, hike!

Take plenty of water and make sure to wear sun screen. Not a lot of shade but overall a great place to go hiking.

Great trail with lots of options to go in different directions. We hiked a total of 7.9 miles and went up Stanley Peak which is 0.7 miles out and back to the top with nice views overlooking Escondido. Lots of elevation for a good workout plus different types of scenery, which alternated from being woodsy to a more sage brush environment.

Theres a variety of options. Paved with slight grades to completely dirt with rock, step grades, or for acomplete experience of both do the loop. Even the full loop has a few route options more difficult.

My 5 year old daughter and I went for a hike in the rain one Sunday about 5 months back. Going early in the rain we were alone with the wildlife. Quite magical. We ended up jogging back from the lake on the loop. Excellent easy hike.

My favorite North San Diego County trail. You can make this as long as you want as there are multiple trails spread throughout Daley Ranch with some very challenging trails to more easy trails. As the warmer months are fast approaching, make sure to bring hydration as it can get very hot. Also, the earlier the better for your hikes. If you follow the full perimeter of Daley Ranch, you can make it a 13 mile trek. Love it!

Epic view, more than happy!

This is one of the best trails in San Diego county. It has so many variations and challenging trails for all levels. I haven’t found another trail that matches its intensity and the sights and sounds are a real payoff

This trail was a good time. Overall there are so many different paths that you can take which is nice. This will allow you to make the hike as long and challenging as you would like. We ended up going about 11 miles and started the hike around 7am. We really enjoyed being there early and seeing the "earth wake up", with lots of spiderwebs covered in dew, fog over the lake, and much more. Make sure to watch out for mountain bikers, they are all over the place, and you cannot always hear them coming around the corner.

Awesome hike started early . Got to see the change in life from morning dew to midday song birds and the cool shade of the oak trees. We did 10.1 miles but had trouble with recording. Phone lost service. Anyhow enjoy it grab a map at trail entrance and use AllTrails to guide you there’s a lot of side trails to enjoy just be careful there some good rutts

The trail is pretty narrow the majority of the way so be cautious of bikers. It’s a very fast trail for bikes and not a lot of visibility for them to notice you and slow down in time.

PICK UP YOUR DOG SHIT! Other than all of the shit along the way, it was nice. Not too strenuous.

Correction in the AllTrails.com description: the shuttle no longer operates but there is no need for one. The trail starts right at the entrance of the park.
Even on a Sunday it was very tranquil. We crossed more people Mountain biking than hikers. The Trails are pretty clearly marked. It wasn't a difficult walk. I'm not sure but I think that they charge $5 to park in the parking lot. The views are very nice.

I love this area. I feel fortunate that I live so close by. The boulder loop trail is really good. I don't think it's crowded at all. Maps are available at the trailhead. Take one! I was lost out there one eve. Thankfully there was cell reception and I was able to navigate my way out.

I love this place. 27 miles of trails with lots of variation. Some areas are pretty exposed to the sun so early mornings are best.

Boulder loop clockwise. Great for the legs! Some shade, lots of rocks/ruts. Okay with tennis shoes but better to have hiking/trail shoes. Very light traffic, once on the dirt trail only saw three other hikers and a biker.
