Super short enjoyable trail near Lookout campground in Sierra County CA near the border with Nevada. Crystal peak mine has amazing views all around of the Sierra Nevada and Great Basin landscapes. The Crystal mine itself adds a unique feature showcasing the human and geological history of the area.

Good hike for the family. Kids loved finding all the neat crystals.

It was a great location to explore and eat lunch but the hike was on a dirt road.

A well known local attraction near Verdi/Reno. Always fun to drive out to and look for crystals. Lookout campground is in a nice Aspen grove and the views from the peak/mine are great. Trail itself is easy and gets you up to the top. A road also goes up but I prefer the walk through the forest. Have mountain biked in the area too, Dog valley offers some great dirt roads.
