Beautiful loop up from the coast to just before the toll road. Cool day, breezy, no bugs and plenty of sunshine. Great hike.

Pretty hike with great ocean views. Bunch of mountain bikers without bells who blow past you. Very dry conditions. Bring water!

Great trail, minimal shade. Bring water!

I climbed clockwise and completed the hike in about 2 hours and 45 minutes. Most of the incline is in the first few miles. Get an early start, as it’s a popular trail with bikers.

The hike was on a nicely groomed fire break road. There was a nice amount of elevation gain in the first half. We strayed slightly off of the Perimeter Trail Loop in the last 1.5 miles but remained on a nicely groomed trail to return to the parking area. There were many people out hiking, trail running, and mountain biking today.

Great training hike if you are getting used to a new pack or getting into camping.

did this a couple of months ago(beginning of summer) I took rattlesnake trail which was fun and I had to hunch a lot due to lot of tall overgrown grass. Moderate hike and ocean view in the last half mile while descending is absolutely stunning. Spotted a rattlesnake.

Good for mileage training but kinda boring you can barely see the ocean at the end.

Nice little trail, nice way to get away from the traffic and onto some trail without travelling too far. Some nice little rollers to add some elevation. I went early on a Saturday and there were heaps of people out there hiking, trail running, backpacking, mountain biking - so nice to see people making such great use out of the state park! Sadly no views for me because the ocean mist was so dense that morning. I would probably give it 4 stars if there had been views, but without the views it was just very limited vegetation and access-road type trail underfoot for most of it.

Longest hike I’ve ever done and threw on a 30lb vest too. Shouldve listened to the ranger when he told us what side to start on. The first 1-2mi was all at an incline. Definitely a good 3hr+ workout!

Amazing way to start a 30th bday!

excellent for trail running, has a good amount of incline patches but at the same time has scenic views to make up for it

This is a good trail but make sure to bring some water and sun screen. Gets decently warm during the summer and the shirt has to come off. But definitely a solid hike.

hiked this yesterday, we took the east cut because trails in the middle were closed. amazing hike, most of the work is getting up to the ridge. once you're up there, it's just an amazing hike, super beautiful this time of year. lots of mountain bikers and not all of them have the bell on their bikes so you can hear them coming, so be watching for them. we did the 9.5 mile loop. Worth it to see The 73 freeway, Tustin, and parts of Lake Forest. definitely killer on the way back down as you're still going along no name ridge and so will encounter some hills. we had been hiking for several hours so we were pretty tired. the only thing is that there is no one particular "summit" from which you can view everything, during the course of the hike, the views change, from Orance County, to the Pacific to the hills of Laguna Beach. overall one of my favorite hikes.

Good trail, not too strenuous, with some good uphill pulls. This trail is open now, as of today (3/16/19), only the lower trails in the middle of the lark are closed. If you stay on the perimeter trails you’ll be ok
