Park at Bothe-Napa Valley State Park visitor center. The fee to enter the park is $8.00. The hike is easy for some and moderate level depending on your hiking skills and experience. Stop by the visitor center to get the map. You can make the hike shorter or longer depending on how much time you have. We started the hike after 10:30 am and there were plenty of parking space. The view at the Coyote Peak isn’t all that great due to obstruction by the trees. The overall hike has good balance of elevation gain and plateau spots.

This hike should not be classified as easy. Definitely moderate. Parts of trail closed so you have to take other trails down - trail map necessary due to closures. Beautiful hike. View at summit blocked by trees.

Would definitely classify this as a moderate-to-hard trail, especially if you’re not in great shape. The trail itself is fairly short, but there’s some rocks you have to climb over, very steel uphill climbs the majority of the bike, and extremely steep ledges. The view is wonderful and the redwood section of the hike was gorgeous, just be prepared to huff and puff a little. Would not advise bringing kids or elderly people.

Overall good trail, we got a little lost at the very top of peak based on AllTrails map which led to a dead end. Would not recommend for kids under 6 due to ledges and water crossing. Next time we will bring bug spray!

Hiked with a friend on a drizzly day and it was stunning. Lots of ferns, moss, birds singing, and rushing creeks (and LOTS of poison oak, watch out). The stream crossings were a bit intense but fine with us, some rock hopping and one part where we actually had to wade through. There has also been some trail damage from the heavy rain season so keep and eye on your map. But it was very peaceful and a lovely couple hour hike before doing some afternoon wine tasting.

Overall good family fun. Hiked with my 13/11 year old sons. Trail meanders.by a creek at times And by some cool redwoods. Really glad we done this hike in January to get a view from the peak. Not sure it would be worth it in the summer when the view would be obstructed.

The redwood section of this hike was fantastic. Lots of shade and was a easy hike. Trail well marked. The view from the peak was pretty obstructed by vegetation.

Lots of poison oak! I wouldn’t take any pets, or children on this trail because of how bad it is. A great hike though, wonderful views, great redwoods!

Absolutely stunning! Best hike I’ve been on so far. At the top it’s just magnificent. Take a seat at the top and take it all in.

Wonderful hike, but mediocre view at the top due to many trees around the actual peak. Some good views nearby.

I was turned away at the gate by a ranger who said dogs are not allowed on the trail. Please update the description. I told her online it said dogs on leash. She reiterated no dogs on the trail but was very friendly and directed me to Oat Hill Mine Trail nearby in Calistoga.

I didn't think of this trail as "easy" though the early part of the trail is flat. It ascends when going up Coyote Peak. We expected a view from Coyote Peak, but it is very overgrown and it feels a bit anticlimactic.
