Unbelievably ghetto. Drugs and the homeless. Stay away!!

This trial is great for bikers. There are few places where you can swing on floating water. It has few water fountains mounted here and there. It’s mostly shady, one of the cool trials in SJ.

sketchy area until you pass Capital expressway going south.... had a guy under CE shooting up in the pathway! once you get further south, it is a good trail.

Excellent quiet trail you can ride all the way to Morgan Hill from Hellyer Park in San Jose. Great training trail!

Great trail to bike. Mostly flat, scenic and peaceful. Watch out for snakes - they can be hard to spot in the dry grass. Had to stop a couple of times to let the snakes cross the trail. Shade is mostly in the SJ part of the trail, be prepared to soak up some sun when you get to Morgan Hill.

Beautiful trail.

Beautiful trail after all the rains. The water levels are higher and green all around. Easy trail as it's all paved and flat surface. I didn't do the entire trail, walked for around 2hours. I don't know how this trail would be in summer as there is no shade around.

Overall nice trail . People have mentioned homeless or not a great area near by. Just park in Hellyer Park by the lake you’ll be fine then go south from there. I’ve done this ride a couple of dozen times. Most of first half of trail plenty of shade second half some but not much. Also first half busier with hikers, dogs, families once you pass fishing ponds much less traffic on trail. The trails is mostly flat with some gentle rolling small hills. The park about 5 miles past Hellyer has a bathroom the next is at the end. There are a few water spots and benches every so often. Once at the end you can continue another mile, mile and half to Anderson dam the last quarter mile up to dam is kinda steep just be warned but I enjoy going there.

I really like this trail. I went today and make 30.4miles round trip. At the beginning is a little busy with kids, dogs and some people don’t follow the stay at the right rule, but once I got further is was less crowded. Overall was a nice trail. Love it

I’ve gone the whole way on this trail a couple of times. But plenty of times just within the San Jose area. The scenery is very nice. Plenty of shady areas to stop and rest that aren’t too far apart from each other. Trail mostly follows along the 101 freeway between Morgan Hill and San Jose. A couple of mildly difficult inclines but otherwise very manageable. Enjoyed many times within San Jose with my family.

Real nice from Hellyer County Park and south. Do not go or park north of Hellyer park, as there are nothing but homeless camps, garbage, thugs, and people who look like they’re looking for trouble. A real sanitation nightmare, too. Think twice before bringing a family member who you care about in this section.

South of Metcalf road, only saw a dozen or so people, was a nice walk in the sunshine!

A beautiful trail to nurture the soul and exercise the body just in our backyard!

I run part of this trail every Saturday for the last 2 years. The trail is well kept, clean, shaded and pleasant year round. If anything, I hope they install more water fountains along the trail. There are two that I know of: one near Hellyer Park, and another. Near the 85 freeway.

The trail is nice but the surrounding area is super sketchy. Lots of tent cities and crazy homeless people along the trail and parking area. I did not feel safe here.

Worst experience with the directions of this app. The map'd address from this app on my cell phone put me atlas 7 miles away from the target. I never would trust the app and its directions for a trail that I do not know how to go. This is second time it is happened to me.

I've walked this trail many times. It's a great place to jog and walk with strollers. It's nice to have the mile markers.
