The trail was pretty clear and easy to follow, with the exception of a couple spots at fork in the road, but our map kept us on the right path. Also there was a spot where we came to a locked gate surrounded by barbed wire fence, and the map told us to keep going, but the gate was in our way. There was no sign at all so we assumed it wasn’t private property and went through a stretched out opening in the barbed wire to continue. The biggest downside to this trail was there was very little shade. There was no shade at all on the last climb to the top. Wear hats and apply sunscreen, and the earlier you go, the better. We had our 8 month old boxer with us and she got tired about 2/3 mile from the top, though we have take her on longer hikes and steeper inclines before. We went late morning, and probably could’ve beat the heat had we gone earlier. The steady climb made it challenging, especially in the heat. The park and this particular trail was very clean, the trail was clear, and most of the hike was pretty open which provided sprawling views of the rolling hills. This was a 3rd option for us, because the other two we wanted to do at different parks were either still closed or did not allow dogs. We are glad we chose it, we got in a great work out and got to check out a place we hadn’t been and might have overlooked. I would not recommend this hike for young children because of the consistent incline, and a small part of the trail gets really narrow. Bring plenty of water and go early if you’re taking your dogs.

Nice trail with beautiful views. I went out on this trail and took eagle point (I believe) back which made a nice loop. Make sure you wear shoes with good tread. There wasn’t too much food traffic from 3-5 pm.
