You can’t go down to the waterfall because it is a very steep rocky way to go down there and you can slip and fall.

Nice moderate trail that starts at EdenPark, follows a running creek, past a small waterfall, and up onto the backside of the La Costa Rancho Perserve. Encountered a lot of tiny fly swarms near the creek due to the heavy rain we got the day before. Nice views of the Ocean yowards the top of the hike. The downhill section back to the car is moderate, but can be slippery with loose gravel/rocks, so take caution.

HikingGreat!Muddy

Trailhead is near the entrance to Edenpark indoor recreation center. There's a nice area for free street parking here. This loop begins strangely with trespassing on private property, then you hit an official trailhead. The beginning is easy and runs along the creek with a small waterfall and some "ruins" of interest. Then you do some switchbacks to near the top of Denk Mt, then easy glide back to the lot. Decent cardio, lovely views, not difficult but not overly easy. A very good short hike.

Did it in the rain and it was perfect and the waterfalls were amazing. We did hear a bobcat in the distance and ran into a coyote, but there was no danger.

HikingGreat!MuddyRocky

For a 23yr old active dude this was a great moderate trail! Clock-wise means going up the rockier switchbacks (see photos) but it also meant hearing the beautful sounds of the creek. Very quiet trail, almost no road noise. The views are worth the hike. You're bound to meet a couple bikers in the morning. CW Trail is tricky to follow. 2nd photo: Probably can't see it but going CW you will pass this sign "<---Whiptail Loop Trail to San Elijo Road etc" that's where you make the sharp right turn which will eventually take you you to part of the Denk Mountain Loop. Unless you want to overshoot it like I did haha.

Lovely hike! I started the trail counter clock-wise on the desert side. As I descended, it turned from a desert to a green forest with a creek and small waterfall.

HikingGreat!

This trail starts at the parking lot area. Trails are not well marked, especially in the beginning. Use Alltrails or DL the map. You walk along the creek where there is a small stream running through. Eventually you get to the waterfall, which is actually very small. Not sure if you're supposed to go down and climb directly on it. There was no signage. (So, we did) Then, you begin the incline up the mountain, a lot of which is switchbacks. Not difficult, but a steady incline. We decided to go further up Denk Mountain to check out the ocean views.

HikingGreat!

Did this hike Christmas Day and had a blast. It is a loop, and we went counter clockwise. The first quarter of the loop is a steady incline, and it is best to just get that out of the way at the beginning. That way you can enjoy the rest of the hike are a leisurely place. After the incline, there are some great views, then you descend the other side of the hill on a series of narrow switchbacks with minimal shade. Finally, you walk along the base of the hill along the Creek, which is completely covered in foliage which is pretty neat. Overall, a great hike!
