it's a good hike, but about 2 miles in there's a fence with a lock. looks new. we had to turn around and go elsewhere where that path also had a fence with a lock.
Dog friendly but at about 2 miles in, it starts to get very overgrown. We turned around since we had a dog with us and we weren’t able to enjoy ourselves looking down the whole time for the trail and having to worry about ticks and hidden rattlesnakes. So we came back down and did the loop around Satwiwa to get some miles in.
Around mile 2.5 the trail gets very overgrown and you’re off a designated trail. It’s apparent that there is a trail to follow, but you climb over some rocks and have to go through a lot of bushes
Most of the trail was easy to follow. However, the section between Danielson Fire Rd. and Staber Rd. was through overgrowth. There was evidence of trails but you might have to make a few exploratory spurs before hitting on the right connection. It was nice to see Sandstone Peak from across the valley.
