Great hike! There is a bit of an uphill section but the scenery is worth it. Not very well marked once you get about a mile in so be mindful of checking the map! The only down side to the hike is having to cross the freeway!

Need to come back and complete the trail. Just went to the river and back. The part we did was very pleasant.

This was a great hike - it doesn’t include going down to the lake to get a good look at the spilling of Lake Clementine over the dam! Definitely a must, and so glad I took the path down! About 1/3 of the hike (after the lake) was uphill on the road the leads down to the lake, but ALL shade and hardly any traffic. There was no one else walking, only a few mountain bikers passed me. The last 1/3 was a few shortcut trails back to the end of the loop which again not much foot traffic and mostly shaded and nice! I think I passed 3 small groups of people. Soooo glad I went first thing int the morning. I was shocked when I came out of the trail as saw sooooo many people and cars! Go early... I finished this hike in about 3 hours and that was the detour to see the dam, so I think I could have done it in about 2.6 hours.

This is my favorite hike with my dog. I do it most weekends, starting at the Lake Clementine dam (restroom and good parking availability) down to the river rock bed turnaround where my dog swims and refreshes. 5 miles total with added site seeing. I branch out and try new trails but so love to come back to this one with its river sounds and access. The dam “waterfall” at the beginning and end is breathtaking.

I also go opposite of the way the map says. Weekdays are much better than the weekends. I was there yesterday 3/6/2020. A few bikers but not nearly as many as on the weekends. A little chilly at 1st but nice when the sun came out. Not a hike to do during the summer. Way to hot.

Hike this during clear winter day, earlier the better. Nice views, the group pace was hurried, or I would have dawdled more. 2.5 -3 hrs.

Nice hike. we listened to others and started on the confluence loop to avoid the uphill road- was a good choice.

We went out southward. Long steady climb, much of the “trail” here is actually a paved road. The back/north half is more rugged, good to come down the hill this way. This was a good hike for a clear winter day.

We only did a small portion of the Confluence Trail from the Mammoth Bar entrance on Old Foresthill Road while our son was MTB with a friend. This was just a walk so we could kill some time, I wish I had more to tell you.

The middle part of the “hike” was walking 2 miles on the side of a paved road that wasn’t very fun. But the damn was an amazing sight although you have to go off trail about .2 miles to get a good view! The rest of the hike was nice and easy!

The first 2 miles or so - to Lake Clementine - was lovely. Pretty gradual uphill with shade (in the morning) and beautiful views of the bridge and river. I would do just that segment again as an out and back, and would be a 5 star hike. The middle segment continues uphill and is walking on a paved road. Too many cars and not great scenery, aside from one point with a nice view of the dam. The final segment - along Confluence Trail - was fun to hike with a bit of rocky terrain, steep drops, and eventually views of the river. However it was completely exposed without shade and just far too hot with too many mountain bikers for such a narrow path. I don’t recommend it when it is hot.

Pretty views. Quite a few mountain bikers - but trail is wide enough in most places to step off and allow them to get past. There is a large section (after the turnoff to the dam, before hopping on Short Cut Trail) that is on a road. There is little room at the edge and there are large vehicles towing boats. That part was a little nerve wracking. Returning on Short Cut Trail, the trail cuts across trafficked road many times and you (obviously) need to be careful. The return is all downhill and can be a fun run, but berry rutted/rocky in parts.

Great day hike. A lot of wildflowers this time of year. Also quite a bit of poison oak. I recommend hiking this opposite what the map says. Take the Confluence Trail first. This way you avoid the long uphill road walk in the Clementine Trail section. The road walk seems never ending when going uphill. Also, mountain bikes frequent the Confluence Trail and fly down the hill. It is best to see them coming. We took a little detour and went to the dam. It was beautiful. There are a couple restroom (outhouse) stops along the trail as well.

This was my first mountain biking trip EVER! The trail is gorgeous, wide enough to pass, and not technical enough to deter beginner riders. BUT, if you are not conditioned, the 3 mile uphill is grueling. We were off our bikes and hiking them to the top of the downhill section before we hit mile 2. After pulling over to check the trail map multiple times, I’d say the trick with trail is: “When in doubt, go right.”

Beautiful this time of year while everything is green and wildflowers are blooming. A big part of the trail is road, which was a little dicey with kids. But all in all, excellent day put in nature!

Great trail. A good up hill. A portion is on the road so watch out for cars. Also, watch for mountain bikers on the last 2 miles.
