Trail is mostly gravel, better for off-road vehicles, but still a nice view from the top.

It’s a good one for a quick run close to town. Pretty view of Ridgecrest, but keep in mind it’s a road run. Many bike trails branch from here.

The trail is actually a road with a continuous but gentle elevation gain. It's good for exercise and takes me 70-90 minutes round trip. During the flower season, there were purple flowers for several weeks as well as other kinds. Different flowers can be found at various elevations. It's starting to be near the end of the season. There are cactus with pink flowers opening right now. Watch out for dune buggies, cars, and powered bikes. I've gone off this main trail a few times. Today I saw a 3 foot snake crossing the trail RC27. I've also seen coyotes and jackrabbits.

It was challenging and rewarding, but I prefer open trails rather than a path to follow.
