Cold Boiling Lake Trail is a 1.6 mile moderately trafficked out and back trail located near Morgan Springs, California that features a lake and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, nature trips, and birding and is best used from May until October.
Extremely beautiful and reflective! There wasn't much boiling going on except for one point at the edge of the lake, if you kept following the trail toward Crumbaugh. There were plenty of frogs jumping on and off the trail that were fun to catch and release. The grass was still green, and besides the temperatures it practically looked like spring.
With the drought as it is here in NorCal the lakes aren't at their best. Not much boiling going on and not much water. Pretty hike none the less. There are a lot of mosquitos however so bring spray.
Short easy trail. Promised bubbles were few and seldom. Mike
