Take gps/phone if you’ve never done the trail before as I nearly got lost a few times. If you go right on the trail split it’s a kick ass workout to the top. However the trail hooks up with the Claremont Loop and you have to turn left to get back to this trail. Currently the Loop is one way traffic and you’ll have to go in the opposite direction for about .5 mile. Be prepared for dirty looks.

Brushes are over grown. Barely any shade so go early. Dogs on leash and they’re exhausted.

We combined the Colbalt Motorway and Marshall Cyn trail together. Up Colbalt and down Marshall for a total distance of 4.7 miles. Colbalt is a old dirt road and wide and mostly an easy incline. One section was steep. but there are lots of mountain bikers on the road. Saw signs of recent bears activity recommend to go early for some wildlife. Take water and mosquito spray as those insects where bad on this hike. There lots of other trails along the way so the app was helpful to stay on trail. We will do this one again.

Love how this trail connects to The Claremont Loop & loops back to the beginning of the trail. I followed the map on the app to make sure I didn’t get lost/off track & that helped!! Good hike!!

Had my first bear experience here. About 1 mile in I saw two bears on the trail about 30 yards away. Scared them off with a loud "Get Back" and waved my walking sticks, exhilarating!

Good footing, almost 1/2 fire road. Good views, variable grades. Saturday AM the man bikes are competing and at risk: listen for them coming!

Very nice scenic trail. Mostly fire road type trail.. Lots of trees and good shaded areas. Also picnic areas along the way. Some elevation gain but not bad. We saw hikers, mountain bikers and a few pups. I would recommend this trail. It’s not clearly marked as far as being the Cobalt trail. Most markings are for Marshall Canyon. Using the All Trails App kept us on track. Enjoy!

Nice trail! Some steep uphill portions, but towards the second half of hike you will be treading mostly downhill. It wasn't the most gorgeous hike in the area, but it had some nice views. If you get lost on which direction to go (looks like there's multiple trails connected to this) be sure to refer to the app and you'll find your way around just fine. No trash, very clean! Looks like the area gets a good amount of traffic due to the connection of trails. I would return to this trail.

Thanks AllTrails! This was my first time on this loop and encountered many side trails, but fortunately the app kept me on track. For a runner, the south trail going east is a bit of grind but overall a great experience!

Many options. Deers, squirrels, lizards, birds and many friendly bicyclists. Wish the restrooms were unlocked. Great workout.
