Nice trail. Steep incline for the first half mile but overall easy hike with nice views.
Such a beautiful coastal trail with an awesome breeze on this Saturday hike! The waters and the beach was such a pretty site. There is history in this area , previously an army base. Fort Cronkite, an army military post artillery defenses . The Hill 88 Radar Station, many machine guns & that huge canon bunkers brings back WWII times. This goes to show how we’ve come a long way since then.
My small dog only made it up the first hill, midday before tiring. Worth going just to get the view from the first hill. I will come back alone for exercise purposes. Parking lots were full on a Sunday late morning, except the overflow lot so we walked also to the beach and trail. Bring water. I did but not enough.
Nice loop with good views. Heavily traveled and paved most of the way.
A seriously beautiful trail. That being said, this trail is not for beginners in my opinion. I took a group of clients out here and several turned back halfway. There is a portion that parallels the ocean cliff that is skinny in width, with cliff on the right and traffic coming head on from the left. Just be careful. The last portion is a set of steep stairs that ends with beautiful views of the Golden Gate Bridge as well as left over military artifacts and tunnels at the top. You can park right next to the trail head which is fantastic (bathrooms right there). Check out Black Sands Beach about halfway through the hike!!
Amazing views, formed trail paths for adventurers, and overall great hike for the family.
Awesome ocean views, lots of flowers, birds, and deers. Easy hike.
