Very nice trail with a lot of variety. This is the 4th section of the coast trail that I've done and plan to backpack through many of them. There is a backpacker camp in the middle of this trail that looks pretty good. The trail goes uphill for the first 1/2 hr before leveling out a little. The last 1/3 before you turn around is nice redwoods but not really large trees. Some nice ocean views on the top. Definitely a trail I'll do again and recommend even though the lower part isn't recommended on other sites. Came across 2 small groups of elk and plenty of bear and lion scat so make plenty of noise if you do this one... The elevation gain is actually 2600' but I hand drew part of the map.

Nice trail. Starts out at the north end of the bridge as an old road. It is fairly wide for much of its length. We hiked it in December and a couple of times the trail was blocked by collapsed trees. There is one nice coastal view point. Most of the trail is in the forest. Sometimes the trail wanders close to the highway and you can hear cars and trucks. At the end you reach a camp ground and a little beyond that the trail intersects another trail--probably coming up from the highway.
