Running

Ran out on the path and back on the beach for a change! Had to take shoes off to get across an inlet but very shallow and made a nice change. Was winter so quite quiet - just the way I like it :)

Great little walk between Grover Beach and Pismo Beach. Nice slow inclines and declines. Nice to just stroll and watch the ocean. I also saw my first Garden snake in the Ice Plant.

Hiking

Nice, flat, easy hike. Exactly two miles from Grover Beach trailhead near Fin’s restaurant to Pismo Beach pier. Walk is through the Monarch Nesting Grove which is shaded and lovely. Trail is a little muddy in the winter, but very passable. Only downside is about 1/2 mile of the hike after the Monarch Grove is along the PCH and next to an RV park. Busy with cars but you can walk in the bike lane. Otherwise, nice hike along the beach.

Walking

We walked from the north end of Pismo Beach to the dunes south of the Monarch preserve for a total of 6.2 miles round trip. The beach wasn’t crowded and it’s beautiful—cliffs, rocks, a few tide pool areas, surfers, waves, birds and dunes. Just skip the trek into Pismo and stay on the beach. It’s really a beautiful beach area.

Great part of this trail is you are so close to other areas to walk. My wife and I walked from Shell Beach to this trail and back. The central coast is beautiful with a lot to see and do!

Not strenuous at all! I usually see older folks walking this as its easy and short yet runs along the beach great wooden trail is good for strollers and walkers.

First to Review

Not strenuous, but beautiful! At the north end, this trail joins up with a boardwalk/trail in Pismo Beach that goes all the way to the pier, probably another mile or so. Dogs are welcome -- in fact, on the Pismo portion of the trail there is a human + doggy drinking fountain.
