Hike along the stunningly beautiful Coastal Trail and cool your feet in Bass Lake.

Long hike, good coastal views, but the lake at the end is disappointing!

Large parts of the hike are in open without shade.

CAUTION - if going on a busy weekend, parking can extend to more than a mile from the starting point/trail head. That adds another 2 miles out and back to the 6.5mi hike, make it 8.5 miles!

No even close to lightly trafficked on a weekend! Tons of people, not recommended if you are looking for a more peaceful hike.

Heavily traffic all the way on this trail. Too bad, as it's a nice area that's obviously getting "loved to death" by a steady stream of noisy, boisterous day trippers...

Stopped here on our way to the Alamere Falls (a couple miles farther down the trail). Gorgeous lake, something out of a painting! The parking is very full so you may need to park in overflow (along the road) but even that isn't too bad. There are restrooms right at the beginning of the trail in the parking lot but nothing along the way so keep that in mind. Bring lots of water!

This trail has breath taking views of Stinson beach as well as the mountainside. Lots of colorful flowers along the way up to Bass Lake to look at. Bass Lake is a secluded serene lake at the too of the trail and a nice reward for the hike. Trail is not too difficult and will see a number of hikers along the way. We added an additional 2 miles to the round trip due to how far away we parked. We arrived at 1130 and there were a number of cars already there. Worth the drive and walk however.

Didn't get to hike, parking was full. Seems not to be so lightly trafficked after all.

One of the top five hikes in Marin. Be prepared for some switchbacks & bring extra water if it's hot. I used to jump in the lake on a rope swing in my younger days before I knew about brain eating amoebas & what not.
Now I just sit by it for a couple minutes & head back down. There are sometimes naturists up there, so don't hang at the lake if you're prude.

This hike is awesome, it is mostly flat but winds it's way over great scenic views and has cool side trails to places to swim in the lake and see the sea cliffs if you don't mind a little steepness! Not 100% exclusive but definitely not crowded unless you went to the cliff lookouts. Very cool / romantic / great workout

Amazingly beautiful, Best to go with a group of friends and bring lots of water and perhaps some lunch. And bring your camera! Lots of Kodak moments you don't want to miss :)
