Trail marker is off the north side of Pinecrest lake. Pleasant trail through forest and rocky switchbacks at high elevation. Opens up into river, wading pool and waterfall area. Great views of Pinecrest Lake.

Not going to lie.. thankful to the hikers that made the stone trail markers climb up was hard but doable.. you’ll feel proud after! Beautiful waterfalls and areas to soak your feet and relax

Really cool hike it's a little hard to follow the path. But they have blue arrows directing you for the most part! Really pretty views along the trail

This hike is gorgeous! I’ve hiked around Pinecrest several times and always wanted to hike back in. The water was really moving today, and we could hear the waterfall from pretty far away. Be prepared to scale some large boulders. We saw one small ran snake, but I’m sure there were others hidden in the rocks and plants so watch your toes! The trail can be hard to find at times. Keep an eye out for blue spray painted arrows, piled rocks, and occasionally arrows that look like they were done with crayon! If all else fails, follow the water up! A lot of dogs were on the way back, but once we scrambled up the rocks a lot stopped at the bottom. It’d be very difficult for them and young kids/elderly.

This is a beautiful hike but more than moderate in difficulty in places, especially in the uphill portion to Cleo's Bath. The trail is not well mark in place that resulted in a number of side tours for us and other hiking at the time. The last stretch to the top of the falls can be outright dangerous if you take the almost vertical route.

Moderate scrambling, but fun for the whole family ! The pools are awesome and if you don’t mind cold water take a swim!

beautiful - hike by Pinecrest Lake, Stanislaus River, forested area, waterfalls and Cleo's Bath at top. the rock scrambling is rigorous in one spot.

Great hike. Loved that there was actual climbing required to get there. Not too hard to do, I saw dogs and children as young as 7 doing it. The best part is having a nice cold bath waiting for you at the end, with some great views of Pinecrest Lake.

Love this hike! Have done it multiple times. Definitely some good climbing. Did this with my 7 and 4 year old. It was tough but they made it up and down

Beautiful hike, but lots of hikers on the main trail around the lake. A word of caution: the end of this trail requires bouldering several hundred feet up...a challenge for humans and an even bigger challenge for dogs!

Make sure you take the other way back around the side of the lake that you didn’t head out on. The side with the dam is amazing and offers more of a challenge than the side with the majority of houses. Just completed this hike in Dec and the weather was fantastic, minimal snow pack.

Amazing trail. Views from the baths at sunset were spectacular. The bouldering and scrambling made the trail fun and challenging. Only ran into a couple people on the trail. Great option for seclusion in an amazing landscape once you leave the lake shore.

This hike is NOT kid friendly (at least for our experience, ages 7 and younger) as stated above. Toward the end of the hike, it's very inclined and has a lot of large rocks that you'd have to climb in order to get to the baths. I would recommend going to the right side trail of the lake (not crossing the dam) because it's shorter and isn't as strenuous. I definitely recommend very well gripped hiking shoes for the inclined rock climbing part toward the end of the trail to the baths.

Gorgeous views of the lake and waterfalls. Once you get to the end of the trail by Cleos Bath, it's all rock climbing until you reach the top. Good hiking shoes will be important for this. One of my hardest hikes but very rewarding once you reach the top! Definitely recommend.

Great hike! A little tougher than expected, but if a paper pusher like me can do it so can you. Be prepared to do some rock climbing the closer you get to Cleo's Bath. Just follow the arrows, they'll guide you.

Such a good hike and the waterfalls at the end were so fun! Great place to be on hot days!

This was a great hike, the four of us range in age of 60 to 70's, it was a challenge but we worked together and made it up the wall and down and as of 8/22/17 the water was cold and two water falls running.

Like others said, it's a casual walk for most of the way, but the last half-ish mile is more like rock climbing and scrambling up big boulders. We did it with our overnight backpacks and made it, but it would definitely be easier with day packs. There are arrows marked on the rocks to help guide you up to Cleo's bath. Do expect lots of rock scrambling/ climbing and navigating towards the end.

A gem of a destination. Upon arrival in parking lot, the trail will be wrapping around the right side of the lake. It literally hugs the lake for the first half.

Great trail. It's a must-do if anywhere near Pinecrest.

Possibly one of my favorite hikes in the area. Fairly moderate until the final stretch when its mostly a steep vertical climb to the top... but the views are absolutly worth the trek.

Not good for dogs. Too steep toward the bath.

Family members and I usually come here to Pinecrest Lake for occasions but haven't hiked the trails before. Definitely an adventure and amazing sights of the whole lake and surroundings from above the mountain rocks! First actual hike that left my thighs sore the next day haha, going to do this hike again with my wife next time!

My family and I went to the trail and it was awesome until you see snakes and giant rocks that you have to move around. One of my family members went to a path that ended and they tried to jump down but fell on their face and now has bruises everywhere. Then, when my family member fell two ladies went jogging past her and didn't even try to help. Also, just to make the trip worse we went the wrong way. That is why I am giving this trail a 2 star-rating.

Beautiful hike to a beautiful waterfall! Falls are still raging like never before from the winter rains. Trail is not the best for running since it is often narrow, especially around the lake and the last bit involves some climbing.

Great hike. A little challenging at times especially on the last pitch. Definitely worth it though.

Pretty! The loop around the lake goes by cabins and is well-trafficked and flat. The hike up to Cleo's bath is fairly flat and easy terrain (though sometimes hard to find). It truly is the last 1/4 where it gets hard—turns almost into bouldering instead of hiking. I started the hike around 7:45am and saw almost no one on my way up, but many on my way back down. Cleo's bath is freezing and still quite rough, but still beautiful and fun to put a toe in. Pinecrest itself is better for a swim right now.

Make note that Pinecrest itself is highly trafficked, with lots of boats and families, speakers and barbecues—it's gorgeous, but prepare for many people if you go in high season and towards midday.
