Note: There is a $10 parking fee at the lot. Lake Clementine Trail leads to the spot where the North Fork Dam meets the rocks for an outstanding view of cascading water. Trail passes under the tallest bridge in California, Foresthill Bridge. The waterfall is absolutely amazing. There are rarely any people at the base of the falls but there is an abundance of poison oak so you need to be careful. Another good feature about this hike is about a quarter of a mile into the hike you pass by Clark's Pool - a fairly popular swimming hole. Despite being in the middle of the river, it is actually quite warm and very refreshing - especially since the first half of the hike is totally unshaded and gets rather hot. Dogs are not allowed at Lake Clementine.

Pretty awesome trail. Not much of a hike though. More of a dog friendly/family type deal! I walked to the dam and it took about 35 min. Then ran most the trail back and that was about 20 min!

This is a great moderate trail to hike, the trail takes you all the way to the dam which has an amazing waterfall. There are no steep inclines on the trail just a bit rocky. The dam road will get a little more steep but it’s paved) Other than that I highly recommend. I went with my husband and 8 month old baby we had a great time. Will go again :)

Got attacked by 2 dogs off leash, the pot head owners wouldn't leash them, after 1 mile of walking , I alerted park n rec officer. He was very helpful but it's hard for them to patrol.

Easy, enjoyable hike. A bit rocky, lots of poison oak in the beginning, however trail is wide enough to avoid it. Nice views, would hike this one again. Go early, less people!

watch out, if you park on the road, YOU HAVE TO PAY $10 at the guard shack then go back an stick a piece of paper in your windshield. learned the hard way and got a parking ticket for $72! the trail is worth it though and it's a park n rec ticket, not an Auburn PD ticket.

The trail was easy to get to, parking was a snap, bathrooms were GROSS but that's always a given. The hike itself is not bad at all. Great for beginners, very shady and just enough people spread out. The water feature of course is always beautiful.

Nice hike, 50/50 shade and sun. Slight up hill.

This trail is just OK. Usually pretty busy with walkers, runners, and mountain bikers. It follows along the river but above it, so if you want to get your feet wet you'll have to take one of numerous spurs down the steep bank. I'd like to do it as a loop but dogs aren't allowed past the dam into the Lake Clementine access area.

Nice, easy hike. Nice view of dam at the end. Would be fun to run the trail.

Nice hike. Trails are fairly wide and the mountain bikers can pass you by easily. We were there the first week of September at about 9 o’clock in the morning and did not require any bug spray. Some shady spots, some sunny spots. A fair amount of inclines where a number of people were requiring a break. We followed the trail to the end until we reached the damn, hung out there for a while then headed back. The app said it was 4.2 miles. Has some nice scenery, we will probably do that hike again sometime.

Easy hike to the damn. Views aren’t remarkable and the trail can get crowded. But where the trail ends at the damn is a really unique stop. Nice swimming hole located off the trail as well.

I took my 7 year old grandson on his first hike, he did great. The hike itself isn’t too difficult, most of the trail is shaded. It got hot on the way back, but other than that it’s a great little hike.

First time on this trail...really enjoyed the Dam at the end of the trail. 2.2 miles to the middle way point. I’ll be back for a short run again.

Beautiful views of water and Auburn damn. Bicyclist at the top said he saw a mountain lion so beware, we were in a large group so didn’t see it. Went early to beat the heat, parking and crowds, great little starter hike.

This trail is an easy hike. I’ve done it twice now. The trailhead is easy to find. There is a parking fee of $10. This is basically the entire area around the confluence, so don’t risk the ticket. The trail is pretty wide the entire way with a few narrow parts within the first mile and the last 1/4 mile. It’s heavily trafficked with hikers and some mountain bikers. Bring water! This hike is half shaded but the first mile and the last mile are predominately sunny. Finding the dam lookout is a little tricky. The last 1/2 mile is paved road with some car traffic. At the bottom of the hill there is a slight left turn to go off the road and onto a narrow trail to get to the dam lookout.

A refreshing nature walk by the American river towards the Auburn Dam. Bonus opportunity to see the Foresthill Bridge, highest bridge in California, 4th highest in USA and 50th highest bridge in the world!

Really nice trail. Once you get out to the day it’s mostly downhill on the way back. Very pretty, lots of butterflies.
