This is our second attempt to find the Cinderella Trail. Starting out at the Sunset Trail on Skyline, we made a right to Castle Park trail instead of left toward Cinderella because we wanted to loop back toward it instead. The Castle Park Trail is a steep rocky and slippery decline, so be careful. When we got to the fork at Sunset Loop, we couldn't find Cinderella and the parallel trail to it was Sinawik trail. After .2 miles, our map was showing us away from Cinderella so we crossed the river/creek down and up to what we discovered was Palos Verdes trail. It was about a 500 ft descent sling s very narrow slippery trail -- you're mostly walking on tree roots across the path. Well, that took us to a dead end road so we climbed back up 500 ft to Sunset Trail, which is the connecting trail for all the others in this regional park. We finally found our way to Cinderella Trail but little did we know that it is a steady and continuous 500ft ascent to Bayview Trail and out to where we started on Skyline--very challenging for 62 year old hiking newbies.
Third time's a charm, so next time, we will surely go left at the fork and hike Cinderella going down to the rest of them trails waiting for us.

The incline thru castle trail made it rigorous. Terrain is great. It's quite shaded. There's a bit that takes you thru the sunset trail that's completely unnecessary as there isn't any different terrain. Rather, you just find a picnic site and loop back. This loop definitely should be shorter...

Out of the three trails on the app for Joaquin Miller Park, this was the most difficult but also my least favorite. Sunset, Sequoia Bayview and all the trails along the stream are the best in my opinion. On Cinderella I'm always worried about bikers coming down the trails. And Castle Park is very steep as you ascend from Sunset. If you're looking for scenery, pick one of the other two trails in this park. If you want a challenge with hills, then this is the trail for you.

Great mostly shaded trail which eventually leads you alongside a creek. There was even a mini waterfall along the way. Keep your ears open for mountain bikers. I really enjoyed ending it with a climb up the Chapparal Trail, which included step-like ascension.

this is a part of a great trail system in the JM park. I'd suggest you get a very good map, or gps on your phone. We did this trail but through a few, unintentional detours (big trees/sequoia bay view trails etc), ended up adding several more trails/miles to the hike. It's gorgeous, the redwoods are great, the view of the bay at sunset was amazing. We even chanced on a wedding by the Big Trees trail. All in all about 6-7 miles (meant to do 3.5), so YOU can customize as you wish.
