This is an off-trail hike from the Children's Forest to the top of Slide Peak. Slide Peak is actually on Snow Valley Ski Resort property and can only be done in their off season (and with permission if anyone is around to give it at the resort). Great hike for kids as well. Views are amazing as you pass 3 little lakes on your way to the peak. Start on the National Children's Forest Trail to the 1st little lake. Follow the lake path to the east where you will find the trail head. Follow this trail/dirt road past two more smaller lakes all the way to the ski lifts and up the road to the peak.

Second time hiking the Children’s forest trail this spring. Amazing how it’s changed in the past few weeks! From feet of snow and rushing streams to dry beds and dusty trails. A nice and relatively easy hike. Long pants and sturdy shoes suggested for scratchy underbrush. Beware of ants! We had a few run-ins with unassuming stumps that were filled to the brim with ant life. Easy parking, not too crowded.

not worth the effort. there are SO many other trails that interconnect with this one that it's nearly impossible to stay on the right one. there are so many better options so don't do this one.

Trail goes into snow valley property so proceed with caution. There was no one around so we were able to hike all around the property. Great views from the top. Once at the top there isn’t much of a trail to make this a loop, it is more of a scramble down the slope. Well worth the hike up for the views.

Love this spot and so do my boys.

Great snow shoe conditions. Scenic with some great views!

Just a asphalt walkway really. You can go “off trail” to the backside of Snow Valley. It was a nice solitary hike. Very quiet

This trail is not what the map shows. You can walk the paved portion of the trail but the trail around the lake is fenced off. You can get through the fence where it’s pushed over but I doubt that the ski resort wants people in there and you might even get in trouble if found inside. Unless you are a beginner or have small children skip this and hike the excellent Exploration trail.
