The milepost marking this trail isn't close to the actual trail according to labels on AllTrails and signage on the Cheeseboro Canyon Trail. The description doesn't really get one there but it is off the Cheeseboro Canyon Trail and there is a sign. Just start hiking the Cheeseboro Canyon Trail from the parking lot and you'll find the trail. Not a very long segment but it does link to the Canyon View Trail. Take a right instead of the left to the Canyon View Trail and you'll head up to a peak that has a good view. If you want a more scenic view don't look toward the landfill. The landfill can actually be interesting as I've seen some very heavy equipment excavating near the crest. Not sure where the dirt was going but it was being hauled away.
