As with most trails in the area, there were quite a few people (mostly young males) that neither wore masks nor were willing to move out of the middle of the trail. So a combination of people generally inexperienced on trail etiquette and current covid etiquette. The hike itself is beginning to get dry and areas going up are crowded with thistle. Ok overall, but not worth a long drive for.

CENTURY LAKE & ROCK POOL ARE CURRENTLY CLOSED! AS OF 5/19/20. Parking fees ($12.00 all day, $3.00 per hour) are still being charged (despite aforementioned closures). The upper parking lot is closed too. I do appreciate that all of this is delineated on their website (I should have looked before coming) but I do think they should charge reduced parking rates during this time. My understanding is that Century Lake is the highlight of this trail. The ranger made it seem like although the trail was open, it wasn't really worth it without seeing the lake. And if I'm paying the parking fees, that seems like a waste. CURRENT INFO: https://www.parks.ca.gov/?page_id=614

The first part down to the lake is nice. Do not take the trail back up as it’s over grown.

It was a nice hike

Great views throughout the first .7 mile and all downhill. The bulk of the hike is flat closer to the cistern and you will need to cross the water via the downed log about 40 yards past where the bridge was. Nice rock formations on your way to the end of trail before you turn around. The way back up isn’t difficult and the views are ok. Did this one with my kids 2, 4, and 6 and it ended up being closer to 3.8 miles. Overall a nice quick hike with good views.

This was a nice trail, downhill to start, but once by the creek there are lots of trails. Where the Forest trail ends at the damn, there is a small rock scramble to see the creek continue down the canyon. I continued on to the Mash location, this was cool to see and only added about a mile. There are a lot of great views.

Nice trail with lots of options. At the end of the Forest Trail you can do a little scramble to see the canyon where the creek continues. I also continued on to the Mash site, this was a cool attraction and still a nice scenic area.

Take lots of water. We hiked during the heat of the day. Recommend early or later in the day. Not marked very well. We went an extra section and had to back track. River is dry.

More of an easy on moderate side and not quite 3 miles due to bridge that crosses the water below is missing so you cannot get across to the forest trail. Beautiful flowers, butterflies, just a gorgeous trail. Overgrown in some areas. Loved it for a close to home quick and easy hike.

Beautiful trail this time of year, with numerous patches of wildflowers and as many butterflies as I've seen on one hike. Moderate level listed here is fair, with most of the strenuous steps on the way back. Trail is somewhat overgrown in areas and rarely completely flat, so your ankles get a good workout. I took a quick drone shot of the beginning of the trail. The canyon behind me is where the trail takes you. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4UlO8FnEOVQ

Gorgeous hike in mid March after a rainy winter. Green hills dotted with purple lupines and golden poppies along a gently flowing creek. Not too difficult; we went with our kids. We saw about 20 people over the course of the hike, mostly during the first mile.
