Beautiful trail, and we didn't see too many other people. There were some trees down across the trail. We turned this into a loop by returning on the foothill trail.

Towering redwoods and moss covered big leaf maples make this a worthwhile walk. Best done in the early morning to see the sun filter through the trees.

Fairly easy hike. Kid-friendly (just have the very little ones supervised, of course).

Easy enough of a trail. Towards the end (or start, whatever you may say) the path is narrow with lots of vegetation at the sides. We started at the prairie creek, went along the big tree trail and ultimately got onto the cathedral trail. Take water. It does not get very sunny so caps can be optional. No range inside, so make sure you carry a map.

This was a great trail! It is connected to the Big Tree trail (wayside point), so we started by seeing Big Tree. And then we saw many more big trees on the trail - they were beautiful! We missed the Foothills Trail junction at the end (the only point where they did not have a clear sign to continue on Cathedral trail), but we figured that out fairly quickly, and only had to backtrack a little. Definitely would do this trail again!

This was just stunning. I highly suggest this to everyone. It wasn't a long or difficult hike/walk, and absolutely majestic.

We started this trail by the Big Tree parking lot. We went around the Circle trail and came across this trail. It is a fairly easy trail among beautiful tall Sequoia trees. It was a rare sunny day, but the tree tops kept us mostly shaded and cool. It was an awesome hike.

Amazing views of the big trees, ferns, and rainforest mosses. Worth your time

Easy hike, but very nice. We took the foothill trail out and joined the Cathedral trail back to the visitor’s center. We only had a short time in the forest, but I was so glad we got to hike!

Beautiful and easy hike through the Redwoods, birds singing, not much traffic until it connects to Big Tree.

Good trail I looped with Foothill. It is nice and fairly level with some gorgeous trees. The farther you get away from the flats near the park hq the better it gets and also drier today..... It's good for most people to do because it's an easy trail and so close to the campground. It was no surprise there was a lot of water to go through on Foothill Trail due to 5-6 inches of rain yesterday.

beautiful trail! once you get back into the woods the sounds of the highway disappear and you are one with nature. mostly dirt trail...but then you find the section covered in tree roots....i especially like that on the up climb. made it easier to find my footing...be be careful...if you look up ...you may fall flat on your face after you trip on one. haha

This is an absolute beautiful hike. We did this in combination with Big Tree Trail. The one downside to this trail is that it's not very properly marked. When trying to complete the full loop, it led us back out to the 101. I ended up just turning back around and walking through the Cathedral Trees again which had me still in awe. Definitely combine with Big Tree Trail. Saw much wildlife, salamanders, garter snakes, birds, and several millipedes :)

We did the full loop and took a wrong turn but all was good, never really got the "Cathedral of Trees" , but combined it with the Big Tree and was beautiful. Read the signs!

I imagine other times of the year this trail is crawling with people, but in late November it was completely empty - with only us taking in the majesty of these trees. We did a loop from the ranger station towards the Big Tree then back on the other side of the road. A good 3 mile loop without much elevation change or challenge, wonderful views and lots of quiet and space to take in the trees. Great for just arriving after a long day in the car.
