The watershed remains open to the public, with some restrictions, for recreational use daily from sunrise to sunset. The recent county health order prohibits vehicles and parking at the watershed, with the exception of people with disabilities who have the required disability placards or license plates for their vehicles. Parking for those with disabilities is available at our Sky Oaks parking lot. While the watershed remains open, visitors must comply with social distancing requirements of at least 6 feet. All volunteer programs that take place on the watershed have been canceled until further notice. This is the shortest, easiest route to Cataract Falls.

HikingGreat!

Completed this hike during the heat wave in the Bay Area. My friend and I aren't experienced hikers, but we had a lot of fun on this hike. We went on a Saturday and there were a good amount of people. Went past the end point, closer to the lake. The hike down is decline, and hike back is all incline. The falls were pretty dried up since there wasn't much rainfall this summer. Love that the hike is along the creek and mostly shaded. There were a few small pools of water along the way - we stopped at one for a break since the heat was pretty killer. We sweat a ton and a half because of the heat, but I would definitely come back after a good rain shower to see a larger waterfall.

Walking

There nothing to really view but the dried up canal. There a lot of bikers and dogs on a leash so don’t forget your mask! It’s a nice walk if you go before 11am. There’s not much shade so bring glass and visor. It took an hour to walk 3 miles with a few stop in between.

Great trail! I’d recommend going a little beyond the designated end point on the map - the last waterfall is beautiful and worth it! Pretty steep return though.
