Castro Crest via Backbone Trail is a 10.7 mile moderately trafficked out and back trail located near Malibu Bowl, California that features beautiful wild flowers and is rated as moderate. The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, nature trips, and birding and is accessible year-round.

Monday morning turned out to be a good time. Only three mountain bikers while I was there. I hiked the Corral Canyon parking lot to Latigo and back. I expected the sun-exposed sections, but there are some beautiful tree-shaded sections with easily traversed creek crossings.
